Jaedyn Shaw has been crushing it with the San Diego Wave and the USWNT. The 19-year-old American professional soccer player originally signed with the San Diego Wave at the age of 17 and since has made an incredible impact as both a forward and attacking midfield player. 1. Trained with Washington Spirit and PSG

In the spring of the professional preseason in 2022, Shaw trained with Washington Spirit. The high-intensity training benefited Shaw’s professional career and put her high on Washington Spirits’ list before the Waves picked her up.

Additionally, Shaw began training with Paris Saint-Germain two years prior, elevating her game.

 

2. A consistent USYNT call up

Shaw has been a regular asset of the United States Youth National Team from her club career all the way to her professional career. Most recently, Shaw joined the U-20 Women’s National team for the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica, where the team exited in the group stage.

 

3. NIL deal with Adidas

Jaedyn Shaw signed a deal with Adidas in the middle of 2022. Since then, Shaw has been promoting the brand on and off the field, from cleats to apparel.

 

4. Recently, she had her first cap with the USWNT

Jaedyn Shaw recently had her first cap with the senior USWNT against Colombia. Shaw went in at the 87th minute for her first of many international women’s soccer games. Since then, Shaw has scored two international goals with the USWNT.

 

5. Scored in her first game with the San Diego Wave

During the 27th minute of Shaw’s first game with the San Diego Wave, the 17-year-old at the time scored her first goal. This was her first game, first start, and first goal with the team.

Growing up in Texas, Shaw played ECNL club soccer with FC Dallas and Solar Soccer Club. In 2021, Shaw’s ECNL Solar Soccer team won the ECNL playoffs.

 

7. Won US Soccer Young Player of the Year

A year ago, Shaw was selected as 2022’s US Soccer’s Young Player of the Year. This recognition was well deserved after an impressive game-winning season with the San Diego Wave. Again, Shaw’s goal-scoring capabilities this past season contributed to the Wave winning their first-ever NWSL Shield.

 

8. At 14, she committed to UNC

At 14, Shaw verbally committed to the University of North Carolina. This was an impressive recognition of her youth success, but Shaw went professional instead of going down the collegiate pipeline.

 

9. Signed with the San Diego Wave till 2026

This past summer, Shaw signed a contract with the San Diego Wave to play with them until 2026. Shaw has already done so much for the team that it will be exciting to see the legacy she brings to their future seasons.

 

10. Won the Golden Ball award at the U-15 Women’s CONCACAF Championship

At the age of 14, Shaw won the Golden Ball Award in the U-15 Women’s CONCACAF Championship. This means that she was the most impactful player of the tournament. Shaw even scored two goals in the final, securing a 3-0 win over Mexico.

 

11. The first Vietnamese American to play for the USWNT

Shaw has made history as the first Vietnamese American to play for the USWNT and the first Vietnamese American player to score for the USWNT.
