Itโs back to school timeโin some form or anotherโall over the country. This is your chance to strut your soccerista stuff in front of all of your peers. You might be thinking: itโs hard to show people that you are a soccerista off the field, but thatโs why weโre here. Here is a quick list of simple things you can pick up during your back-to-school shopping to show off your love for the beautiful game.ย
Attire
The quickest way to show your classmates and teachers that you love soccer is with what you wear. Suit up for school with your favorite NWSL fan shirt or jersey, or wear your own kit to school to show that youโre more than a fan. Make every Friday your soccer shirt day. You could also take advantage of face mask policies that are in place by sporting a mask with soccer balls on it or branded with your favorite team. Before you know it, your fellow soccer enthusiasts at school will reveal themselves and youโll have a whole group of people to talk soccer with.ย
School Supplies
Who doesnโt love fresh back-to-school supplies? Shopping for these supplies is the most important and fun part of the whole process. Which subject is going to be the blue notebook? Should I go with mechanical pencils or gel pens? Use the huge variety of school supplies out there to show off your love for soccer. A notebook with some of the USWNT baddies on it, little soccer ball erasers, a pencil bag that looks like a soccer pitch. Youโll never be far from the game with these supplies following you from class to class.ย
Locker Decor
When I was in middle school, I had a poster of the USWNT lineup hanging in my locker. Every time I opened my locker everyone knew what I was about. With the USWNT so popular these days, youโll have a really easy time finding magazine clippings and pictures online to put up. Find a few full-page images or create your own collage with smaller photos from all over the place. People have been plastering their lockers with their favorite things since the dawn of time. Join in this tradition this school year!ย
Your Reading List
Now, we know that not everyone has time to read extra books during the school year between practice, required reading, and homework. But, if you are an avid reader and have the time to crack open a book between classes or at lunch, what you read says a lot about you. There are plenty of books written by and about female soccer players to keep you reading throughout the year. Here are a few of our favorites that we recommend.ย
Accessoriesย
When I was in school accessories scared me (I was a tomboy, what did I know about accessorizing?). But thankfully, things have gotten much easier over the years. Choosing the right soccerista accessories still varies from player to player, but there are a million options in between. If you really want all eyes on you, go all out with a soccer ball-patterned backpack. Looking for something more subtle? Maybe start with a soccer ball keychain or a scrunchie. Do your hair like one of your favorite players or strap on a charm bracelet. Find the look thatโs right for you and get creative!
