4 of the New Women’s World Cup Cleats
The highly anticipated World Cup cleats are open for purchase. The debut of the new Nike shoes pictured four styles of cleats: Phantom Luna, Phantom, Mercurial, and Tiempos. Each cleat sticks to the same color tones of orange and cream, but all produce their own benefits. Here are the cleats that are being represented at the Women’s World Cup.
Nike Phantom Luna

The first prototype of the Phantom Luna was released on June 28, 2023. The vibrant, orange-colored shoe is, in fact, made to fit the female foot in a more natural way. Normally, everybody uses the same male-fitting shoe. The Nike Phantom Luna was created to prevent injuries and also allow fast movement and sharp turns without consequences. Although it was created with females in mind, the cleat is not just for a singular gender.
The studs on the bottom of the shoe ensure that your traction is secure and not rotating, which can cause injury. There is also a grip on the cleat’s sides to ensure that you will have a controlled touch, whether it is raining or dry,
Nike Tiempo Legend 10

Tiempos are known for being comfortable and light on the feet. For the Nike Tiempo Legend 10s, Nike has implemented a FlyTouch Plus engineered leather that is supposedly even lighter! The leather is said to help with comfort and make your ankle secure.
The cleats are appealing to the eye, with light orange geometric shapes. On the top of the cleat, there are microdots that help ball control and passing. Nike has also said that they did take out some of the padding that is usually used with the leather. Their reasoning is to allow your foot to be even closer to the ball.
Nike Phantom

The World Cup Nike Phantoms also feature bright orange colors. What sets them apart is that they were created with a knitted fabric called “Gripknit.” The advantages are for finishing and close control. To match quick turns and change of pace, there are Tri-Star studs on the bottom of the cleat. Lastly, Nike has been improving comfortability and working on making their break-in easier.
Nike Mercurial

In the past, the Mercurial has been one of Nike’s most successful styles of shoe. The sole of the shoe has been manufactured to be much springier and has a thin structure to gain speed faster. The thinner material on the top of the shoe allows the player to feel the ball more. Lastly, the fabric surrounding the ankle has been improved to fit in a natural and secure way.
