The NCAA Women’s Soccer Team Captains To Watch This Season

Womenโ€™s college soccer is in full swing, and there have been some exciting matches so far this season. Itโ€™s difficult to be a college captain, and you must show a great amount of leadership to lead your team in a long season with the hope of lifting a trophy at the end of the season. We take a look at some NCAA women’s soccer team captains to watch this season.

Katherine Asman – Penn State

Asman is one of three captains for this Penn State team thatโ€™s ranked in the top 10. Sheโ€™s played in all seven games so far for the Nittany Lions, helping to lead them to an undefeated 6-0-1 record so far.

In their first game of the season, she pitched a shutout against top-five-ranked North Carolina to earn a scoreless draw. So far this season, sheโ€™s made 23 saves while only conceding one goal.

Sheโ€™s a graduate student who has spent her entire collegiate career at Penn State playing in 71 games so far with 263 saves and a 45-16-7 record.

Gianna Gourley – Grand Canyon University

Gourley is a senior forward at GCU, and sheโ€™s been terrific since stepping foot on campus, but she broke out during the 2021 season when she had ten goals and six assists.

She got even better in 2022 when she scored a school record 18 goals and added six assists on the season.

The forward is on pace to break that record this season. So far, through eight games, sheโ€™s scored eight goals and registered one assist.

Maycee Bell – North Carolina

Bell is a big part of the Tar Heel backline. North Carolina is currently ranked second in the country with a 5-0-3 record. Bell is a leader on the backline who has conceded just four goals on the season despite going up against five teams ranked in the top 25.

So far this season, sheโ€™s played 658 minutes, tallying one assist for North Carolina. In her career, sheโ€™s played 5481 minutes.

Camryn Dixon – South Carolina

Dixon is a leader on the backline for this Gamecock team. South Carolina is the ninth-ranked team in the NCAA standings with a 6-1-1 record. Dixon has started all eight games for this team, which has only conceded four goals this season.

The defender is a fifth-year. In her collegiate career, sheโ€™s appeared in 91 games, starting 73 of those for a total of 5884 minutes so far.

 

Olivia Wade-Katoa – BYU

Katoa and this BYU team have been extremely impressive so far this season. The Cougars are the top-ranked team in the country with a perfect 7-0 record. Katoa is one of nine seniors on this BYU team, and sheโ€™s been an offensive leader early on in the 2023 season.

So far, Katoa has four goals and two assists through six games played. In her career at BYU, sheโ€™s appeared in 81 games and scored 16 goals while registering 14 assists.
