The USYNT won the U17 CONCACAF Women’s Championship after beating Mexico 4-0 in the final. The US outscored their opponents 32-2. Their performance in this tournament was dominant, showing how bright the future is for these players and the USWNT.

The USWNT Gold Cup roster came out last week with a few big absences. Notably, Alex Morgan and Becky Sauerbrunn were not named to the roster. Instead, many of the younger players we saw last fall were called up, like Korbin Albert, Mia Fishel, and Jaedyn Shaw.

Although it’s exciting to see the young stars get their turn, this roster could signal the end of an era for the USWNT without Morgan and Sauerbrunn.

News of the Weekend

The USL Super League just received Division One sanctioning from U.S. Soccer, meaning the new league, premiering in August 2024, is in the same division as the NWSL!

In the inaugural season, the league will kick off in eight new markets: Brooklyn, Carolina, Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Lexington, Spokane, Tampa Bay, and Washington D.C.

Additionally, in sports news, the White House has teamed up with the NWSL, the NWSLPA, and other professional sports leagues and player associations to boost physical activity and nutrition programming across the country.

This is a first-of-its-kind program, and it’s awesome to see so many sports leagues come together for one cause.

Win of the Weekend

The Kansas City Current owners won the Super Bowl! That’s right–for two years in a row, the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl means NWSL ownership has also won. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are both owners of the team.

Goal of the Weekend

This backheel finish from Chelsea’s new signing, Mayra Ramirez, is something special. It’s so nonchalant, Ramirez makes it look easy.

Assist of the Weekend

Olivia Smith’s assist to former Brown player Brittany Raphino for Sporting Portugal is world-class.
