9 Things You Didn’t Know About Mallory Swanson

Mallory Swanson has been a name in the headlines since her inception with the United States Women’s National Team. Her most recent accolade was scoring two goals for the USWNT in their first game in the 2024 Olympics, along with scoring the only goal against Brazil in the final to win gold. Swanson joined UCLA in 2016 for a semester to play with their women’s soccer team. Swanson decided she would want a greater challenge for herself and in 2016 she signed with Washington spirit. At 18 years old, Swanson was living alone, playing professionally, and proceeded to score six goals in her rookie season.

 

2. Debut with the USWNT

After playing on the youth national teams since 14, at age 17, Swanson was called up for her debut with the senior national team. This occurred in January 2016 at the Olympics against Columbia.

In this most recent season, Mallory Swanson received the highest-paying contract in NWSL history. This five-year contract was worth two million dollars. Mallory Swanson joined the Chicago Red Stars in 2021 and will continue after this contract until 2029.

Mallory Swanson represents Nike. Along with the USWNT’s representation of Nike, Swanson has continued to advocate for the athletic brand. Most recently, Swanson has been representing the famous Nike Phantom Lunas at the 2024 Olympics.

Mallory Swanson’s first Olympic Games were in 2016, along with her first USWNT debut. She was the youngest player in the pool after being recently named the U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. Most recently, Swanson won gold in her second Olympic appearance.

Swanson grew up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and has been playing soccer since she was four years old. She had a consistent club career with Real Colorado’s ECNL team. Before going to UCLA, Swanson played with the Boys DA for her last two years.
