Around the Leagues in July: ECNL, Girls Academy, USYS, and More

It’s nearing the end of July, and while the World Cup is in the midst of exciting Group Stage action, girls’ youth soccer has mostly wrapped up for the summer. Nonetheless, here’s all you need to know about what’s going on in youth girls’ soccer this month!

 

ECNL

The ECNL wrapped up its post-season this month. Now, players have some time to rest and recover before heading into the fall youth soccer season or college season!

ECNL Girls Finals

This month both the ECNL Girls Champions and ECNL Regional League Champions were named. 

 

ECNL Girls Championships

  • U13 National Champions: Slammers FC HB Køge
  • U14 National Champions: PDA Blue
    • GSN ambassador Makena Lee scored the second goal for PDA, who ultimately won 2-1 over San Diego Surf
  • U15 National Champions: Michigan Hawks
  • U16 National Champions: Solar SC
  • U17 National Champions: SLSG Navy

 

ECNL Regional League Champions

  • U13 Regional League Champions: Missouri Rush 
  • U14 Regional League Champions: Chicago Inter
  • U15 Regional League Champions: Slammers FC 
  • U16 Regional League Champions: Missouri Rush 
  • U17 Regional League Champions: FC Dallas

 

Inaugural Conference Cup

The league announced rosters for the first-ever Conference Cup, which will take place August 7-11 in Chula Vista, California. Ninety of the best U14 to U16 players were selected for six teams: North, West, Central, Northwest, Texas, and Southwest.

 

ECNL Star on the World Stage

16-year-old Casey Phair subbed on for South Korea in the Women’s World Cup! Phair is the youngest player ever to play in the tournament. She plays for PDA in New Jersey in the ECNL.

 

ECNL Player Signs Early to Purdue

SLSG ECNL defender Zoe Cuneio graduated high school early and decided to commit to Purdue a year prior to originally verbally committing for 2024. 

 

Girls Academy League 

July also saw the GA wrap up its summer season and finals. The MVP, Golden Boot, and Golden Glove awards were handed out as well.

US Youth Soccer 

The National Championships took place for US Youth Soccer clubs in Orlando from July 17 to 23.
