Ask Amanda: An IG Live Series To Help With Your Mental Game

Soccer is both a physically and mentally demanding game. We all experience challenges and setbacks, but while we know how to tackle the physical ones, things start to get a bit gray when it comes to the mental side. We turn to our coach and trainers to improve physically and technically, but what about improving mentally? Those moments when we’re struggling with confidence, feeling the pressure too much in games, can’t stop thinking about our mistakes, or can’t block out the sideline noise?

Simple. Ask Amanda!

Girls Soccer Network is launching a new IG Live series, Ask Amanda, with certified mental performance consultant Amanda Ferranti. The series is set to launch this upcoming Sunday, April 18th, at 7pm EST.

If you’ve ever thought about reaching out to a sport psychologist or mental performance coach but were hesitant to start, here is your chance to get a sneak peek of what it’s all about!

Amanda also offers an integrated soccer training approach that involves soccer drills and on-field training to improve decision-making skills. You can also find her on social media @ferranti8  Also, if you’re a reader, grab her new book, Own Who You Are!

About The Series

When: Sunday, April 18th, 7 pm EST

Where: IG Live @girlssoccernetwork

Duration: ~30-60mins

The live series will feature Amanda and a current player who has a question or particular issue they’re struggling with on the field. They’ll discuss the topic for a bit, and then Amanda will do what she does best and identify the underlying challenge. Amanda’s goal is to address the challenge and give that player a few practical tools they can use to effectively manage their thoughts and emotions and ultimately help them further reach their potential.

Think, Fly on the Wall

We hope this series will show players just how helpful it is to work with a mental performance coach to improve their game both on and off the field. On Instagram Live, you can tune in and observe the session firsthand and see for yourself how this could also benefit you. Think of yourself as a fly on the wall! Viewers can also submit questions during the session that Amanda can answer later or in the following session.

You Are Not Alone

As the player talks it out with Amanda, you may find that you also struggle with this same issue! Another goal of this series is to shed some light on the fact that, in reality, we all share very similar thoughts, emotions, and struggles. We hope that as you listen in on Amanda and her player, you may say to yourself, “I feel that same way!” or “That’s how I think, too!” There is comfort in knowing that we are not alone in our struggles.

Whether it’s confidence, communicating with teammates, dealing with parents, handling pressure, or fighting the negative voice inside your head, these are all issues soccer players deal with, and to reach your potential, you must work through them. Who says we can’t work through them together?

About Amanda

Amanda is a certified mental performance consultant, licensed soccer coach, former Princeton Tiger, and professional player. She runs her own practice, Ferranti Empowerment, where she helps athletes of all ages with mental and emotional challenges holding them back on the field. For Amanda, it all comes down to managing your thoughts and emotions. Her sessions involve identifying the situations that are holding you back and training the mind to manage emotional responses that will arise on the field: nervous taking a PK, anxious about losing the ball, disappointed being on the bench, unfocused playing with a noisy crowd… sound familiar?

Have a question? Ask Amanda! If you think you’d like to participate and be our guest on an upcoming episode, please submit your question to  contact@girlssoccernetwork.com.
