Celebrating the Soccer Moms of the NWSL!

We would be nowhere without soccer moms! They get us ready for practice on time, they spend their weekends and tournaments, and they always have the snacks. There is nothing a soccer mom can’t do, and to show that, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite soccer moms in the NWSL.

Alex Morgan

One of the most highly lauded players in the NWSL and in the international sports world, Morgan became a mom in May 2020. She welcomed a daughter, Charlie Elena Carrasco, with her fellow soccer player husband Servando Carrasco. Charlie is a regular on Morgan’s Instagram and even appeared in the recent USWNT kit announcement.

Sydney Leroux

Leroux, while a stellar player, has gained a lot of internet fame for the hijinx that happen with her kids, Cassius and Roux. Cassius, who will be seven in September, and Roux, four in June, are a truly dynamic duo who keep mom on their toes. Leroux is such a super mom that she went viral during her pregnancy with Roux for being present at training well into her second trimester–and returned a mere three months after Roux was born.

Crystal Dunn

Aside from her flock of chickens and three cats, Dunn welcomed baby Marcel Jean in May of 2022. She and her husband, Pierre Soubrier, are raising a very happy kid, as baby Marcel is rarely seen without a smile. And he was front and center when his mom won gold at the She Believes Cup, the seventh time Dunn had appeared in the tournament.

Jessica McDonald

The world fell in love with the mother/son duo of McDonald and her son Jeremiah when they became a focal point in the documentary LFG, highlighting the USWNT’s journey toward equal pay. Jeremiah, who has just turned 11, is his mom’s number-one fan and even showed up in Racing Louisville’s kit drop–which doubled as an awesome birthday photoshoot.

Adrianna Franch

On New Year’s Eve 2021, Franch announced the birth of a daughter, Kamari Boscacci-Franch. And she has been a mainstay on Franch’s Instagram ever since. Whether it’s nap time, watching mom from the stands, or coming off the team bus, Kamari is always in tow.

Harris and Krieger’s love story took the world by storm–teammates to lovers to mothers. They’ve been together since 2010, made things legal in 2019 at their USWNT studded wedding, and became moms for the first time in February 2021 by adopting Sloane Phillips Krieger-Harris just two days after her birth. And in August 2022, they made their family that much bigger by adopting son Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris.

Julie Ertz

Julie Ertz is one of the newest moms in the league. She and her husband, Zach Ertz, welcomed their baby boy, Madden Matthew Ertz, just last August. There is no word on whether Madden will be taking up soccer or football.

Michele Vasconcelos

Vasconcelos of the Portland Thorns has been a mom almost as long as she’s been a pro player. She started with the UWSL in 2016 and gave birth to her daughter Scarlett in 2017.

Formerly Ohai, Kealia married NFL defensive end JJ Watt in 2020. Just two years later, they welcomed their first child, Koa James Watt. Koa has been spotted fieldside at both of his parent’s games, sporting team regalia, and ear protection.

Arin Wright

Wright is a long-time Red Star and a fairly new mom. She and her husband welcomed their first child in April 2020. Her son, Grady, just turned three at the end of April and loves going everywhere mom does.

Casey Krueger

Krueger has been a member of the USWNT and the NWSL for a long time now. Just a year after marrying Cody Kreuger, the couple announced the pregnancy in December 2021. Caleb Kreuger was born in July of 2022 and has been present for every kit reveal since.

You may have seen Matthews on the front line for a few NWSL teams over the years, but you might not have known she is a mother of three. A total boy mom, Matthews is mother to Josiah, Lionel, and baby Cairo, born just this last July.

Allie Long

Long’s 2022 was an absolute whirlwind of life milestones. The long-time pro announced her pregnancy in April of 2022, and less than a month later gave birth to twins. She and her boyfriend are the proud parents of daughter Siena and son Trent. The pair will turn one just over a week after Mother’s Day.

Both on and off the pitch, we absolutely love soccer moms!
