Girls Soccer Network Launching E-Book Series with Sam Cary

Some of you may know her as the sassy ref in our series #HerWhistle; or maybe you’ve come across her doing FootyPop on TikTok, our Monday women’s soccer news brief. Or, perhaps you are lucky enough to have her as a squad captain in our mentorship program, Soccerista United. If you’ve been browsing around GSN the last few months, you know I am talking about the multitalented, super enterprising Samantha Cary. Did we mention she’s also a talented defender from the University of Iowa who has spent her summer with the Louisville reserve team and is soon to be embarking on reffing at USYS Nationals in Orlando Fl. at the end of the month? Yep, and we’re not done.

Sam can now add “author” to her list of many talents.

Author, Samantha Cary

It’s been a dream of ours here at GSN to publish a series of e-books about the vast and sometimes hard to navigate world of soccer we all love. Soccerista United has been such a positive experience that it made sense to start with a book that functioned as a piece of companion content with that but also could stand alone if you weren’t in the program. This is how The Do’s and Don’ts of College Soccer was born. Like everything we do, we come from a place of how we can benefit our community? What are the things that our community asks us about and needs more information on? We strive to make our content as compelling as possible. With that in mind, we wanted The Do’s and Don’ts of College Soccer to be highly readable and from the actual perspective of actual college students. Sam reached into her vast network of friends and players and synthesized their experiences into a book that is both practicable, informative, and super fun to read.

The ten chapters of The Do’s and Don’ts of College Soccer covers just about every aspect of the college experience, from choosing your school; to preseason and post season; academics; mental health; injuries; and even a section that gives parents a way to understand what their exceptions can and should be.

We hope you like it. Let us know your thoughts after you read it, and most importantly, let us know what Sam should write next? The Do’s and Don’ts of Club Soccer, or The Do’s and Don’ts of Soccer Social Media.
