Introducing Soccerista United’s Badge Program!

Soccerista United is our mentorship program that was launched last week! It brings together elite college athletes and the next generation of soccer stars to build relationships and get advice. However, Soccerista United has another amazing aspect to the program: the badge system. 

We at Girls Soccer Network believe it’s important to build soccer players on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. When girls can be elite in all of these aspects, they have the “complete trifecta”. So, we developed a badge system to help girls grow in these areas.

Our badge system contains three tiers: Serious Skills, Student of the Game, and the Ultimate Teammate. Each of these tiers contains lessons and assignments that will challenge Socceristas to better themselves to achieve the Soccerista Trifecta. When you complete each badge, you will receive a custom Soccerista United Badge in the mail. Collect all three to earn the trifecta!

The Serious Skills Badge is completed by scoring a specific number (tailored by age) on technical tests used in the college game. We asked our squad captains about requirements that their universities may have and developed tests and exercises to better these skills.

The Student of the Game Badge combines Socceristas knowledge in their classroom and their knowledge of the game. This badge allows Socceristas to practice making a resume or submitting their report card. Additionally, it challenges them to learn about important strides in women’s soccer history, such as Title IX, the Equal Pay Movement, and the 99ers. This badge encourages Socceristas to learn about themselves and the game they love.

Finally, the Ultimate Teammate Badge focuses on who Socceristas are in the community. With challenges such as volunteering, celebrating teammates, and cleaning up your park, Soccerista’s can work on giving back to their community and help to make their area a better place. 

We are so excited about this program to help grow our community as people, students, and athletes. We know that all three of these factors can greatly benefit our Soccerista’s future. So, we want you to EARN THE TRIFECTA.
