As awards season approaches in Hollywood (the Golden Globes and Grammy Awards in January, the Writers Guild of America Awards in February and the Academy Awards in March), Girls Soccer Network decided to roll out a red carpet of its own. Mallory Pugh definitely takes home the Best Singer award. Though the young star’s various voices and accents may not cater to top musical critics, she definitely believes she has true talent, and many say “confidence is key.” Check out the video below (1:30) to see why of Mal was a shoo-in for this award.
Best Leading Lady
Alex Morgan had quite a year in 2017. She led the USWNT in goals scored at seven and was deemed the 2017 CONCACAF Female Player of the Year. Morgan was on fire during the NWSL season, tallying nine goals for the Orlando Pride. When she swapped out her purple Orlando Pride uniform for red, white, and blue, nothing changed. Morgan scored seven goals in seven matches to close out the year for the USA. She now ranks seventh on the all-time USWNT scoring list. Watch the video below to re-live Morgan’s 80th career goal in a friendly against Canada.
Best Plot Twist
The USA’s victory against Brazil in the 2017 Tournament of Nations wins the Best Plot Twist award by a landslide. Down 3-1 with 10 minutes left to play, the USA scored three goals in just nine minutes to down Brazil. The USWNT pulled off an absolutely exhilarating comeback win. Sam Mewis, Christen Press, Megan Rapinoe and Julie Ertz netted goals to lead the U.S. to victory. Watch the remarkable comeback below.
Let’s face it. The USWNT is chock full of comics and pranksters. It was too difficult to choose just one of the jokesters. So the Best Comic award is bestowed to both Allie Long and Lindsey Horan. The two socceristas play for the same club and have a long history of pranking both each other and their fellow teammates. Check out the links below. Keep an eye out for Lindsey or Allie to do an Instagram or Snapchat takeover for the USWNT. You will definitely be in for some good laughs!

Biggest Impact Player
Julie Johnston Ertz has been a defensive force on the USWNT for a while now, and since moving to a more offensive position, she has proven her dangerous attacking abilities. In 2017, she was named the 2017 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and she scored crucial goals against some of the best teams in the world. Watch below to see her goals against Canada and Brazil! Ertz is so dangerous in the air, and her tenacity and nose for the goal makes her an extremely difficult player to defend.
