Salt Athletic and Their Odor-Eliminating Cleat Bag

Socceristas know that playing hard takes sacrifice. We’re talking injuries, long-haul tournaments, and maybe worst of all, the stink of well-loved cleats and shin guards. I used to have to keep my cleats and guards in the garage; they smelled so bad. That’s where Salt Athletic comes in.

I remember trying every odor eater insert and even dumping baking soda in my shoes. Now soccer stars have a way more elegant solution to keeping things fresh. This team of genius soccer lovers has developed a bag that completely blocks the stink from infesting the rest of your life.

Rafael de la Vega, the CEO of Salt Athletic, and his team have been there and done that. After long soccer careers of their own and dealing with smelly equipment, they decided enough is enough and got to work on a cure. De la Vega has been dreaming about and working on aērcase since his sophomore year of high school. Having played soccer himself for over a decade, he knows exactly how stinky the struggle can be.

Stinky cleats

He and the Salt Athletic team spent three years developing the aērcase. They went through a bunch of prototypes and methods for eliminating stink before coming to their final design. The aērcase is a sleek bag that uses silver and activated charcoal to kill bacteria that causes stinky feet. The bag itself is a very modern and understated design, and no one would know that this little black bag is doing serious work on your smelly cleats.

The aērcase fits cleats up to a size 12 in men’s and works for shin guards as well. Not only does Salt Athletic’s aērcase save you from the stink, but it also banishes nasty bacteria and fungus. The fact that Salt Athletic thought to make their aērcase work for shin guards too really proves that they are looking out for the soccer community specifically. Everyone knows how smelly shoes can get, but only soccer players know the woes of a nasty shin guard.

The aērcase is fast-acting. As soon as you put your gear in the bag, the smell will stop spreading. Leave it in the bag and forget about the stink. Save your bag, your car, your room, even your house from soccer stank.

These bags are machine safe, so taking care of your aērcase is as easy as washing your kit after a game. Just be sure to run them through the dryer twice to reactive all of that great odor-killing material. Using silver and charcoal may sound a little intimidating, but everything in the aērcase is perfectly safe.

Despite the fact that the relative newness of these bags de la Vega is confident they will last for five years. Because soccer stink isn’t exclusive to cleats and guards, Salt Athletics is working on an entire gym bag with this odor-killing technology. Can you imagine being able to keep your away kit in your bag for a weekend tournament and not smelling it every second?

This is an issue that socceristas have been putting up with since cleats were invented. Being an athlete is a stinky undertaking, and Salt Athletics takes on that stigma one cleat at a time. You’ll never be embarrassed by your stinky gear or have to toss a perfectly good pair of cleats because of their smell again. Salt Athletic knows the issues at the forefront of every soccer star’s life—or at least her soccer bag.

There are a ton of anti-odor products on the market and geared toward athletes, but there is nothing out there like aērcase. De la Vega cares deeply for the soccer community, especially for the women of the Bolivian National Team. His hope is that with the success of Salt and the aērcase, he will be able to provide support and resources to the team so they can continue to show out on the world stage.

The Salt Athletic aērcase is a must-have for socceristas, period.
