A seasoned midfielder and proven winner, Furness was instrumental in Bristol City’s promotion last season. This isn’t Furness’s first time leading a team to promotion and winning titles. She has done just that with Sunderland and Liverpool as well.

No list of underrated and unsung players would be complete without at least one keeper shout-out, and this one goes out to Tottenham Hotspurs keeper Barbora Votíková. Brand new to the FA WSL, Votíková is bringing with her tons of clean sheets and a great eye for movement.

Courtney Brosnan – Everton

Everton has an ace in the goal with Brosnan. The 2022/2023 season was a real turning point in this keeper’s career, both on the club and international levels, with incredible showings on all sides in really pivotal moments.

Shania Hayles – Bristol City WFC

Hayles may be a young forward, but she is definitely one to watch. Just a few years into her career, Hayles has already seen Aston Villa through a promotion and is now one of Bristol City’s top players.

For a player who has over 200 caps across several teams, you might not know the name Lisa Evans—but you should. This West Ham forward is extremely versatile, going from winger to midfield to wingback at the drop of a hat.

Poppy Pattinson – Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion has a real gem in Pattinson. This young defender was just named Young Player of the Year, but we think she still deserves more buzz than she’s getting.

Rule is a name we’re sure to be seeing a lot more of in the future. This is her first year in FA WSL but she’s already got a ton of championships under her belt from the A-League. She’s a young midfielder with a lot of talent and fire.

Jesse Woolley – Bristol City

Woolley’s senior career has had a bit of a shaky start, but she’s got a lot to show. Just coming off of an injury from the 2021/2022 season, Woolley pulled her weight in Bristol City’s promotion season.
