Former US Women’s National Player Heather O’Reilly participated in The Soccer Tournament (TST) tournament this past year. The tournament consists of eight teams competing for one million dollars; the winner takes all. The event, which originally was featured as a men’s tournament, will now be offered for women’s teams as well and offers an equal prize fund. O’Reilly praises the tournament for providing equal opportunity and prize money for women soccer players. O’Reilly shares how TST has stood by their promise of equality, unlike FIFA.

In 2024, women’s international soccer will hold the Gold Cup tournament for senior national teams. In total, it will include 12 teams that will be split into three groups. The teams chosen will consist of two World Cup qualifiers, six teams that qualify for group play, and four guest national teams from a different conference. The United States will hold the first tournament.

This year, the annual tournament will be held in Atlanta in April. Four international teams, all of which participated in the most recent World Cup, will compete. These games will be valuable as soon because of the upcoming international competition in France for the 2024 Olympics.

 

FIFA U-20 2024 World Cup

The U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Columbia starting in August. It will consist of 24 teams, including the United States. Additionally, it will be exciting to watch the next generation of international stars compete just a year after the senior national teams had.

 

2024 Paris Olympics

The USWNT and 11 other senior national teams will compete in France for the Olympics. The USWNT has had a long history of success, winning four gold medals in the tournament. On top of that, their upcoming games in the spring will be great practice in securing a squad to compete and bring home the gold.

 

NWSL Challenge Cup

This year’s Challenge Cup will be a single match in March, featuring Gotham FC against the San Diego Wave. There is a new implementation where the NWSL Challenge Cup champion will go up against the regular season champion. The NWSL season has made several changes and adaptations to accommodate the Paris Olympics happening during the summer.

 

FIFA U-17 2024 World Cup

This tournament will be held in Mexico, where the USA will be in Group B, going up against Canada, Puerto Rico, and Panama. This age group is crucial for developmental style, and the young talent these girls have to offer will be exciting to keep track of as their college and professional careers are on the horizon.
