Love is in the air and on the pitch–here are some of our favorite soccer power couples this Valentine’s Day in 2023!
Tierna Davidson and Alison Jahansouz
Davidson has been coming up in the ranks of the NWSL and USWNT. She signed with the Red Stars as a first-round draft pick in 2018, fresh out of Stanford. And Stanford is where she met her girlfriend, Alison Jahansouz. Jahansouz was the goalkeeper for the Cardinals during their time at school, and the two are now going on six years of dating. We love a teammate to lovers story, but college sweethearts are just as cute.
Tobin Heath and Christen Press
While this one isn’t technically confirmed, the writing has been on the wall for years. Press and Heath have been teammates for years as members of the USWNT and even played a season together abroad for Manchester United.
Buzz about them being a couple began a while ago, they’re constantly on each other’s social media, regularly seen out together, and their chemistry is undeniable.
They all but solidified their relationship to the public when they appeared together at the ESPYS, looking like the most gorgeous power couple around. A Heath/Press official relationship launch is definitely on my 2023 Bingo card.
Kelley O’Hara and Kameryn Stanhouse
Kelley O’Hara publicly came out in 2019 an iconic post-World Cup win kiss shared with then-girlfriend Kameryn Stanhouse. And then, on New Year’s Eve, she rocked the world again by announcing their engagement on her Instagram. When she’s not training with USWNT or playing for Gotham, O’Hara and Stanhouse live together in DC, where Stanhouse is head of corporate ad sales for Politico.
Mallory Pugh and Dansby Swanson
If you’ve noticed lately when Googling Mallory Pugh that you get rerouted to Mallory Swanson, that’s because the USWNT upstart got married in December! She tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend, current Chicago Cubs shortstop, Dansby Swanson. The two met in 2017, and in late 2022 they married in the company of family and friends. A beautiful and intimate ceremony that had the after-party catered by Waffle House. Is it fair for one couple to be quite so cool?
Morgan Brian and Fabrice Gautrat
Another pro-player team on this list, Brian and Gautrat, got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2017 and were married in November of that same year. Gautrat, a former soccer pro himself, now coaches for Chicago Red Stars. The couple did a bit of a switcheroo as Brian had been a midfielder for Chicago since 2018, but in 2022 she departed to join Kansa City’s midline, and Gautrat took over as head coach. At the 2020 NSWL Challenge Cup, Brian took the field wearing a “Gautrat” jersey as a sweet surprise to her husband.
Kelli Hubly and Eryk Williamson
Kelli Hubly and Eryk Williamson are the definition of a soccer power couple. Hubly plays for the Portland Thorns, and her long-time boo, Eryk Williamson, plays for the Portland Timbers in the MLS. Hubly scored her first career goal for the Thorns back in June, and Williamson took to Twitter to support her. That’s goals in more ways than one!
Beth Mead and Vivianne Meidema
Beth Mead and Vivianne Meidema are like two peas in a pod. Both are national team stars for their respective countries, England and the Netherlands. Both play forward for Arsenal, and both sadly tore their ACLs in the past year. The two players are leaning on each other for recovery! They have also attended a handful of awards and ceremonies together, and their photos are always so cute.
Allie Long and Casey Cordial
Last but not least on our soccer power couples list are Allie Long and Casey Cordial. Long-time midfielder for the USWNT and current Gotham FC player Long just had twins in the spring with boyfriend Casey Cordial. Cordial is a chiropractor sports physician and has been publicly linked to Long only within the last year or so. The two welcomed twins in May, daughter Siena Maxwell and son Trent Jameson. Take one look at her Instagram, and you’ll see that love and parenthood suit them just fine.
