The power ranking for girls’ soccer programs seems to be something of a sliding scale. We’re never sure just who will rise to the top as the best of the best in the nation. Like in any other soccer league in the world—NWSL, college, or even national teams—there are always some consistently strong teams. Let’s get into it.
Best Girls Soccer Clubs This Year
A handful of teams always tend to trend towards the top, like Real Colorado and Solar SC out of Texas. As a program, they are almost always in the top 10. Slammers HB Koge really had a choke hold on the top five for a while there, across several of their age groups, even winning last year’s ECNL Girls Overall Club Championship. That particular championship is awarded to the club with the highest total points across age groups collected throughout the conference season and in the ECNL National playoffs and championship tournament.
There are tons of metrics used to measure who is the best player in a position, but when it comes to girls club soccer, the ECNL Championship is more or less the end all be all for who is top dog. This season’s Overall Champions are none other than the San Diego Surf. The Surf was number one in two different age groups this season, so their win at the Overall wasn’t that much of a surprise. This team has been on a meteoric rise for the last few years. They just saw a 25% increase in players signing to play college ball from last year to this year. And those colleges include Stanford, Duke, and USC, just to put a little icing on the cake. This club has only been part of the ECNL for four years, but they’ve already won several championships, and their girl’s team has been named National Club of the Year. Whatever they’re doing out there on the coast is definitely working, keep it up Surf!
Another team appearing in several top slots is KC Athletics out of Missouri. This season, two of their teams made it to ECNL Nationals, while several other age groups made appearances in the Midwest President’s Cup and Regionals, demonstrating excellence across the board.
Going to the top of the age divisions the champ of the year is Beach FC. Given that these girls are about to age out of their club years and start pursuing collegiate and professional options, this is an important demographic to look at when talking about top programs. Beach FC out of Long Beach is TopDrawerSoccer’s #1 U18 team in the nation for 2024/2025. They have had names on every D1 recruiting ranking and report this year, even going back to last year.
Overall, the landscape of girls’ club soccer is constantly shifting, with different teams rising and falling in the rankings each season. However, a few programs like Real Colorado, Solar SC, Slammers HB Koge, and San Diego Surf have consistently demonstrated their strength, dominating both their age groups and the national stage.
