In 2015, Dunn was left off of the 23-player roster for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Yet, after the USWNT won the 2015 World Cup, Dunn was invited to play in the victory tour matches.

Unlike in 2015, in 2019, Dunn was included in the tournament’s roster. Dunn started in 6 matches and ultimately helped the team win the tournament. Alongside her numerous trophies and medals, Dunn has tallied 154 caps, 25 goals, and 20 assists with the USWNT.

Being a Tar Heel alumni, there is no surprise to Dunn’s tenacity and skill when on the pitch. She became the youngest player in history to earn the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as a Tar Heel. Along with that, she secured the highest award, the Hermann Trophy, in 2012. Her impact at UNC is undeniable and furthers the program’s reputation of molding legendary players.

Washington Spirit (2014-2017)

Dunn began her NWSL career with the Washington Spirit. She was the first overall pick in the 2014 college draft. During her rookie year, she started in 19 out of her 22 appearances. The team ended in fourth place that year, but Dunn nearly secured Rookie of the Year, placing third in voting.

2015 was the year Dunn dominated the NWSL. She earned the Most Valuable Player and the Golden Boot awards with 15 goals in the season. Although positioned as a defender, her eye for goal makes her one of the most dangerous in the game.

Dunn decided to return to the States after her year at Chelsea. With the Courage, Dunn was named Player of the Week and Player of the Month multiple times. Not only did Dunn help the team have a record-breaking season in 2018, but she also helped the team lift the NWSL Championship.

Besides all the trade details that went into Dunn’s transfer, Dunn also had her eyes set on Portland, knowing that her husband, Pierre Sourbrier, was the team trainer. Her work ethic on the field did not falter, even after giving birth to baby Marcel in 2022. Despite missing many games during the 2022 season, Dunn returned to the field just four months after her C-section. Her impact was immediate as she scored a late-game winner off the bench against San Diego Wave in the semi-final match. The Thorns would later move on to lift the 2022 NWSL trophy.

NJ/NY Gotham (2023-2024)

As a Long Island native, Dunn was expected to remain with the club far beyond a single season. She had signed a contract with Gotham through 2026. Yet, the recent wave of NWSL players signing with clubs overseas continues, with Dunn cutting her time with Gotham and heading to France.
