Around the Leagues: Youth Girls Soccer in June

Now that the school year is officially over in the US, players have more time to focus on the beautiful game. Summer is a time for travel tournaments, late-night practices, and, for some, prepping for the final year of play with your school or club team. Here’s what’s going on in the world of youth girls soccer this month!

Soccerista United Soccer Camp

Another milestone for Girls Soccer Network is about to happen. We’re launching our first-ever LIVE Soccerista United Camp this summer and could not be more excited.

Soccerista United Camp is a girls’ empowerment camp that combines soccer training by elite coaches and mentorship provided by current female college players who want to give back to the next generation. UC-Irvine’s Head Coach, Scott Juniper, will lead this inaugural camp. Juniper has led the Anteaters for 15 seasons, taking the team to four NCAA Tournaments. They have won two Big West titles, and he is the winningest coach ever at Irvine. You can check out more information here and register for the camp here.

New Rankings

Top Drawer Soccer has recently released its Regional and National Rankings for the 2024 class for the summer and the Top 150 IMG Academy players. These rankings take into account the performance and records of players nationwide.

Class of 2025 Communications Open

The window for communications for the class of 2025 opened on June 15! This means prospective college soccer players can begin communicating with coaches to begin their recruitment process. This can be a stressful yet exciting time for young players, and the process looks different for every single athlete.

Girls Academy League

The 2023 GA Playoffs will kick off later this month, a week-long series of matches from June 21 to 27. This postseason competition will feature teams from U13 to U19 vying for the top spot. This national competition will also offer U15 to U17 teams that didn’t qualify for the playoffs a shot in a college showcase.

By the end of these playoff games, the U13 and U19 teams will have a champion in place, while the U14 through U17 teams will have to duke it out here to make it to the GA National Finals in July. So far, the U13-U17 brackets have been announced, and the U19 setup will follow soon.

This national tournament is the perfect opportunity for Girls Academy players to showcase their skills. Whether they’re about to start middle school or are going to college, this country-wide series sets Socceristas up for a lot of success and exposure.
