Grand Valley State Standout

As mentioned, Cook took an unconventional path to her draft pick. She played at Grand Valley State after high school, appearing in all 24 games her freshman year. Her impressive statistics earned her the GLIAC Freshman of the Year award at the end of the season.

From there, Cook kept growing and gaining accolades. She was a unanimous All-American selection, leading the conference in goals her sophomore year and the nation her junior year.

Cook’s spring 2021 season was cut short due to Covid-19 protocols, but that didn’t stop her from leading the Lakers to their fourth straight league title. In addition, her extra year of eligibility allowed her to look elsewhere to continue her soccer career. And her head coach from GVSU, Jeff, Holser, recently moved to Big Ten school Michigan State University.
