It’s hard to believe that the end of the year is right around the corner! So much has happened this year, and if your memory is anything like mine, you may not even remember much. Thankfully, that’s where social media comes in handy!ย
2022 was a good year for quality social media content, especially in the realm of women’s soccer. In case you forgot or missed a few posts, here is a list of the year’s best NWSL social media moments.
Portland Thorns 2022 NWSL Championship Win
We have to start our list off with the grand finale of the 2022 NWSL season! Unless you’ve been living under a rock or haven’t used the internet in a few months and missed it, the Portland Thorns won the 2022 NWSL Championship. There are many great celebratory posts, so start with this one before you go down the rabbit hole of all the others.ย
Ashlyn Harris’ Retirement Speech
Ashlyn Harris announced her retirement from professional soccer at the end of this season. During the USWNT Players Ball, she gave an inspirational and emotional speech mentioning memories from her time playing over the years. It is definitely worth the watch.
Jane Campbell and Michaela Abam as Almost-Astronautsย
Jane Campbell and Michaela Abam of the Houston Dash visited NASA, where they learned all about the Orion spacecraft. In addition, the two Houston Dash players were given a tour of the inside of a space shuttle and learned how astronauts move around in space.ย
All the Arrival Outfits!
One thing I looked forward to the most on game days this season (besides the game, of course) was seeing the fabulous outfits the players would arrive in. I will admit that many of these outfits inspired my own fashion choices, and if you’ve been following these posts by your favorite NWSL teams, you’d understand why.ย
Rose Lavelle Karaoke
Rose Lavelle gave a brilliant karaoke performance during the USWNT Players Ball that had all of her teammates singing and dancing along with her. Though there was a special appearance from the musical performer Fat Joe, nothing topped Lavelle’s role as a cover artist that evening.ย
All of the Spirit Halloween Costume posts
Remember when everyone posted their version of the Spirit Halloween costumes earlier this year? Though there was definitely some tough competition, it was hard to top the Chicago Red Stars, featuring their own players.

Paul Rudd for the KC Currentย
It isn’t every day that an NWSL team is the subject of a video post by an Avenger, but the KC Current made the cut! I doubt anyone was more excited than Paul Rudd for the NWSL Championship game this year. He definitely proved his full support of the team and hyped up the players and fans with his video.ย

Truly, this list could go on forever with all of the funny, heartwarming, and inspirational moments shared by the NWSL teams and players this year. These will be hard to top, but I can’t wait to see what posts come out next year!
