With the NWSL overlapping the schedules between the Challenge Cup and regular season and multiple leagues in Europe still going strong, there’s a ton of women’s soccer action to enjoy. Let’s get you caught up on all of the amazing goals from England, Italy, and the United States with another edition of Top 5 Goals from the FA WSL, Championship, Serie A, and NWSL.
5. Barbara Bonansea – Juventus
What a finish 🎯

Juventus is Italy’s best club team and is on pace to win another league title and a possible double with the cup trophy in their sights. Arguably their best player is Barbara Bonansea, who is their go-striker for the national team as well.
Bonansea showed exactly why that is the case with her skill in this play. Most players would take a touch before taking the shot, but she hit it one-time with a perfect amount of finesse. Bonansea found the top corner for a brilliant finish, one only a few players in the world can pull off.
4. Ashley Sanchez – Washington Spirit

The Washington Spirit is a team that no one wants to face right now. The defending champs are suffocating opposing teams with their pressure, as seen during this goal. All it takes is one bad pass for the Spirit to pounce, and Ashley Sanchez made them pay. Sanchez has that killer instinct in front of goal that only the best players have.
As soon as she picked up this ball outside the box, Sanchez nicely bent the ball into the far corner and made it look easy. That’s what you put the work at the training ground for; when the opportunities arise, Ashley Sanchez is ready to take them.
3. Sophia Smith – Portland Thorns

— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) April 30, 2022
Sophia Smith is blossoming into a superstar before our very eyes. Every time she touches the ball, there’s anticipation to see what she will do with it. In this case, Smith provided a moment of magic and really made something out of nothing. Smith had a defender right in front of her, but that didn’t stop her from going for it. Once Smith took a touch to settle herself, she waited for the second bounce off the turf and then let it rip.
No one expected her to take that shot on early, which might’ve surprised even the goalkeeper, who got a hand to it but still couldn’t stop it. Sophia Smith is feeling it right now, which is a problem for everyone else in the NWSL.
2. Beth Mead – Arsenal
🚀 BETH MEAD 🚀
Arsenal are four up thanks to this sweet strike! #WatchWithAta #BarclaysFAWSL pic.twitter.com/ONG2Qysx3g
— ata football (@atafball) May 1, 2022
Beth Mead has a knack for scoring worldies, and this goal is no different. Arsenal broke swiftly toward the Aston Villa’s goal with their one-touch passing, and Mead received the ball in space just outside the box.
The strike is sublime because, from the rear camera angle, we can see how the ball clearly swerves away from the keeper as the keeper goes for it. That’s how to strike a football 101.
1. Mollie Green – Coventry United
SCENES!! WHAT A STRIKE!

This is easily the moment of the weekend, and it does not get more dramatic than this. Coventry United and Watford played each other in the last game of the season for the right to stay in the FA Women’s Championship. It’s 0-0 in the 97th minute. If Watford holds on for the draw, they stay up, but they’d be saved if Coventry United could somehow score. Well. Enter Mollie Green, who saved their season with his brilliant free-kick to win the game!
A loss sends your team out of professional soccer in England altogether, and Mollie Green stepped up when she needed it the most. An unreal moment for Green and Coventry United, a huge moment in FA Women’s Championship history.
