5. Sam Mewis – USWNT

The Mewis sisters making the Olympic roster is a great story. But, seeing them link up for this goal makes this moment even more special. Kristie made a great turn to get the ball to Sam, who dispatched it into the far corner with power and accuracy. The goal was nice, and their chest-bump celebration made it even better.

4. Jasmyne Spencer – Houston Dash

This was a liberating and special moment for Jasmyne Spencer. The Reign traded Spencer to the Dash after an uneventful year and a half, including a long term knee injury. From the second Spencer slotted it into the far corner, you can see the emotion and what it meant to her. To score against the team that just traded you away with all of that extra baggage has to be an amazing feeling.ย

3. Ife Onumonu – Gotham FC

Ife Onumonu is in great form for Gotham and sheโ€™s earned the right to be their starting striker while Carli Lloyd is with the USWNT. Whatโ€™s so impressive about this goal is the accuracy from Onumonu. The way she bent her shot around the defender and find the far corner was awesome. Onumonu made that strike look way easier than it was. What a great goal.ย

2. Tobin Heath – USWNT

When Tobin Heathโ€™s name appeared on the Olympic roster, most of us were surprised by it. However, after months away from the field, Heath is more than ready to play (and has probably been itching to get back out there). She scored this amazing goal from a long distance, signaling to the world that Tobin Heath is back. The keeper was slightly out of position, but all around, it was an excellent move from Heath and her first touch of the game at that.

1. Mariana Laroquette – Kansas City

For the fans who didnโ€™t know who Mariana Laroquette is, they will have to take notice now. The Argentine was a big signing for Kansas City and is showing exactly why they made the move to bring her into the team. This chip finish is simply special. Her first touch beat the defender and her second was a thing of beauty; perfect technique. Laroquette couldโ€™ve easily kept dribbling and tried to get closer before shooting or passing but managed to pull off the spectacular instead. This is the clear choice for the best of the week; a flawless goal and a strikerโ€™s dream from Mariana Laroquette.ย
