Top 5 Goals: NCAA Soccer, NWSL, FA WSL, Frauen Bundesliga

Womenโ€™s soccer continues to grow and expand at a rapid pace with each passing season. England winning the Euro will now see even more attention and excitement around the FA WSL. In addition, the college season has entered conference play which features some incredible soccer between high-powered programs. Plus, the NWSL is wrapping up its regular season with one of the most exciting playoff races of all time. With so much great soccer going on, it was much more difficult to whittle this list down to the five best, but we did it. Here are the best womenโ€™s soccer goals of the week from the NCAA, NWSL, FA WSL, and the Frauen Bundesliga in Germany.ย

5. Beth Mead – Arsenal

Beth Mead was one of the main stars who helped lead England to victory, and sheโ€™s also a key player for Arsenal. If Mead is given any opportunity in and around the box, more often than not, she will convert.

This was a similar situation where her initial cross was blocked, but the deflection went right back to her, and at that point, Tottenham had no chance at stopping her. Mead took one quick touch and then beautifully curled the ball into the far corner. Arsenal will surely be in the top three of the FA WSL this year, with Beth Mead being one of the players leading the way.ย

4. Emina Ekic – Racing Louisville

Emina Ekic continues to provide a nice spark off the bench for Racing Louisville. Sheโ€™s an attack-minded player with the technical quality to ruthlessly finish when she needs to. This was a big goal for Louisville because it put the game away and made it 3-1 against Angel City.

Her first touch on the cross was perfect, she took the pace off it, and the ball dropped right in front to strike on the half volley. Once she put her foot through it, the keeper was going to have a tough time stopping it from inside the boxโ€”a great strike from a hometown player who keeps producing for Racing Louisville.ย

3. Maliah Morris – Clemson

Clemson is having a great season and is putting plenty of pressure on Duke, Virginia, Florida State, and North Carolina in the ACC. Players like Maliah Morris have helped that cause by beating the teams they should, like Wake Forest.

Morris didnโ€™t seem to have much of an angle to shoot, but that didnโ€™t stop her from going for it. Even with the defender close by, Morris let it rip and got a little bit of help from the crossbar before ending up in the net. The clean strike from Morris was her first of the season, and hopefully, a few more will be coming her way before the seasonโ€™s end.ย

2. Taylor Porter – Portland Thorns

Taylor Porter provided the exclamation point on what was a flawless performance for the Portland Thorns against the Chicago Red Stars. The Red Stars were down to ten players making it even more difficult to defend at the end of the game. Still, Chicago did well to keep everything in front of them and not allow Portland to get in behind.

Well, one way to go around that is to score from long distance. Porter lined up this one-time shot without needing a first touch. The ball rolled nicely into her path, and you can see her put her entire body into this strike. So itโ€™s no surprise the ball flew into the roof of the net.

Portland knows how to develop talent. Taylor Porter is one of many players the Thorns have in their pipeline who are getting some great experience in the NWSL right now.ย

1. Linda Dallmann – Bayern Munich

Linda Dallmann has worked her way up the ranks to now be among one of Germanyโ€™s key players within the national team. Having spent the last 6+ years at Bayern Munich, sheโ€™s grown tremendously as sheโ€™s reaching her peak as a player.

Watch her takeover as she first intercepts the ball and then goes for goal herself. Dallmann first scans the field for other options before dribbling around defenders. Still, Dallmann was far from goal, and the keeper seemed to be in the right position. That seemed true until Dallmann let it rip, and the ball knuckled away from the keeper, leaving her rooted to the spot.

When the keeper doesnโ€™t dive, that shows just how perfect the strike was, and Dallmann tucked this away beautifully to take the top spot of the week.ย
