Top 5 Goals: NCAA Final Four, Liberty A-League & D1 Arkema

Women’s soccer action is heating up from all around the world. We’ve come so far to now be at the point where even European and Australian matches and highlights are easily accessible. We’ve got you covered from the Final Four to D1 Arkema and the Liberty A-League. So let’s take a closer look at the best women’s soccer goals this week.

5. Sandy Baltimore – PSG

Sandy Baltimore is a burgeoning young star for PSG, sure to be in the plans for France’s national team in the long term. Watch how she initially misplaces her pass to start the move. She then jumps in the air in frustration thinking the play is over.

Yet, the striker stayed with the play as Khadiatou Diani put a nice move on a nearby defender and played in a sumptuous cross. Baltimore made a great adjustment in midair to find the touch needed to guide it into the net.

PSG will be sure to hold onto Sandy Baltimore tightly. Her potential is limitless.

4. Selma Bacha – Lyon

Selma Bacha looks incredibly smooth on the ball all the time. She’s quick but never in a hurry.

Watch how she effortlessly glides in between two defenders with one dribble. That one touch allowed her to flow right into the shot with a clean strike. The keeper is moving to her right, thinking Bacha will go to curl it toward the far post, but Bacha reads the keeper and smashes it near post instead.

A simple yet seamless move from a top-notch player.

3. Madelyn Desiano – UCLA Bruins

UCLA reached the National Championship with a critical contribution from Madelyn Desiano. If Alabama had any hope of coming back into the game down 2-0, Desiano ended that with a scintillating solo run.

Once Desiano saw her opening, she went for it with a nice cut inside onto her left foot. Then she slows up just enough to take the shot and finds the top corner perfectly. That’s quality and composure in a major part of the game.

UCLA is one of the deepest teams in the nation, and Desiano is a big part of that.

2. Remy Siemsen – Sydney FC

Sydney FC was down to ten players and needed a spark which Remy Siemsen was able to provide.

Most would say this looks like a cross that ended up being a shot, but the keeper can’t seem to make up her mind, and Siemsen just took advantage of that.

The way the ball dipped and swerved after she hit it looks more like a shot than a cross, and her body shape doesn’t look like she was trying to bend the ball into the box either. To me, it’s a shot and a great one at that. Thanks to this goal, Sydney would go on to win this game with ten players.

1. Selma Bacha – Lyon

Selma Bacha is truly a special player and one of the best in the world. Very few, if any, can replicate what she just did in this play. Most players would take a touch toward the goal or to the side, but Bacha touches the ball behind her to create the angle to shoot.

Bacha somehow wraps her foot around this ball while going away from the goal. How on Earth does she generate enough power to put this ball in the top corner while running backward? Bacha got her hips around just enough, and the result was magnificent.

Bacha has been at Lyon her whole career, but a move to FC Barcelona or England could be in her future.
