Top 5 Goals: Barclays FA WSL, Women’s FA Cup, and Serie A Femmenile

This week’s Top 5 Goals list features the absolute best from another exciting week of women’s soccer action. We’re taking you on a trip to England and Italy, including three competitions in the league and cup. So, without further ado, here are the best women’s soccer goals in the FA WSL, Women’s FA Cup, and Serie A Femminile.

5. Vilde Bøe Risa – Manchester United

Manchester United was tested by a Lewes FC team in the lower division, but that’s the beauty of the FA Cup; anyone has a chance. United had not put Lewes away and was only leading 1-0 after an own goal.

Well, Ona Battle and Vilde Bøe Risa took matters into their own hands. Ona Battle whipped in a great cross, and Risa was ready well before the defenders and goalkeeper could react and fired the header home.

A spot in the semifinals awaits Manchester United thanks to some great play from Battle and Bøe Risa.

4. Valentina Giacinti – AS Roma

While the defense wasn’t very good, the header from Valentina Giacinti was fantastic. Her teammate curled in a great ball she could attack in the air.

Giacinti jumped from around 12 yards out, which means she had to generate a ton of power on the header. The striker snapped her head around to head the ball home nicely and complete a great move. That’s direct play at its finest.

3. Emily Kraft – Lewes FC

Lewes FC played what must have been their most important game of the season in the FA Cup Quarterfinals against Manchester United. Emily Kraft gave her team a moment to remember with this fantastic goal to get her team back into the game.

The ball popped up to Kraft, and she wasted no time going for goal. That might have also fooled Mary Earps; her reaction was late after the shot. Kraft struck the ball inch perfectly and shocked everyone with that goal; what a moment for Emily Kraft and Lewes FC.

2. Alice Corelli – Pomigliano

Pomigliano is deep in a relegation battle for the remainder of the season, but their last result was huge in securing their status in the top division.

Alice Corelli helped put the game away but might have inadvertently hurt her team. Corelli has multiple defenders around her, but that didn’t stop her from going for goal. Corelli struck it sweetly, and the ball had no choice but to nestle into the top corner; it was like a laser beam the way it flew in.

Her celebration was her second yellow card and got her sent off, which could hurt the team in the next game; I hope she got her money’s worth.

1. Bethany England – Tottenham Hotspur

I had to watch this goal back at least five times to ensure it was real and that a defender didn’t deflect the shot. The camera quality isn’t great, but when you take a closer look, you can see how the ball swerves once it leaves her foot, and the defender is late in trying to block it.

Once you know that the ball isn’t deflected, all you can do is marvel at how incredible this strike is. To come in from the right flank and hit the ball with an inside bend instead of going for a curler is rarely seen because the keeper usually has the angle to stop it.

Bethany England struck it to where that didn’t matter. This has to be one of the goals of the season. It’s a beautiful strike I can watch over and over again.
