Equal Playing Field Documentary Coming on November 16

Equal Playing Field is delighted to announce the launch of a new documentary, Equal Playing Field on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, with pre-orders available now via Apple TV and iTunes.

This powerful documentary charts the remarkable journey of a group of heroic athletes who came together to inspire women to tackle the impossible. The Equal Playing Field initiative is the brainchild of co-founders Laura Youngson and Erin Blankenship, two women who had the courage to challenge cultural norms. They mobilized female soccer players to break two new Guinness World Records in order to raise awareness for women’s struggles both on and off the field. By competing in soccer matches at the highest elevation at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to the lowest at the Dead Sea, they are advocating for top to bottom change in sport and beyond.

Recognizing the importance of such an initiative, players, coaches, referees, and medics from 30 countries across six continents teamed up to tackle both literal and metaphorical mountains to create a platform on which future generations can stand.

The documentary features in-depth interviews with top soccer players, Jasmine Henderson (US), Yasmeen Shabsough (Jordan), Dipa Adhikari (Nepal), Dani Richards (US), Saja Kamal (Saudi Arabia), and Monica Gonzalez (Mexico). It also highlights Moya Dodd, the first woman to ever sit on the FIFA Executive Committee, and His Royal Highness, Prince Ali bin Hussein of Jordan, the first prince to ever stand behind women’s sports in the Middle East. The film was directed and produced by Amirose Eisenbach and her company, Radiant J. Productions, in conjunction with independent film distributor Passion River.

“After losing my mom to cancer, I quit my job and started my production company. Trying to turn pain into power, I wanted to create art that connects and elevates humanity. Equal Playing Field was the perfect first feature and is the embodiment of everything I’m passionate about – community, inclusion, diversity, and equality. These remarkable women have changed my life and I hope that through this film, they will have a positive impact on generations to come,” Eisenbach said.

The film also features an original score by Grammy award-winning Composer, Charles Goodan, as well as Thomas Shawcroft as Director of Photography and contributions from Director Tamara Rosenfeld.

By pre-ordering the film before November 16, you have the chance to join our exclusive virtual celebration event and Q&A’s with the filmmakers and Equal Playing Field sisters. Equal Playing Field

Equal Playing Field is a global collective of people seeking to challenge the inequalities women face in sport, particularly in soccer, and to promote the development of the game. It has grown from the dreams of two co-founders to a budding movement across 5 continents.

Equal Playing Field has a history of breaking Guinness World Records, having set the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude football match by playing a full FIFA Accredited match at the top of Mt Kilimanjaro (5714 metres) in 2017. In 2018 they set the Guinness World Record for the lowest altitude match by the Dead Sea in Jordan and ran football camps for hundreds of girls who had never played before. In 2019 they set two Guinness World Records in France during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, including the highest participation 5-a-side game, which involved 807 players and 69 hours of continuous play, and the largest number of nationalities in a single game, which involved 114 players, representing 53 nationalities. In 2020 during the global COVID-19 pandemic, they supported EPF sister Deena Rahman who set her own Guinness World Record for the most penalties taken during 24 hours, smashing the pre-existing target.
