In this week’s women’s soccer news, we said goodbye to not one but two USWNT legends and began ushering in a new era for the team. We also saw some great NCAA action, and we can’t forget to mention some news off the pitch! So, without further ado, here’s this past week’s women’s soccer news recap!

High of the Weekendย

Maybe it’s just a rumor and some very coincidental photos, but Kristie Mewis and Sam Kerr could be ENGAGED! Both players were spotted with rings on their left hand. We couldn’t be happier for them!

Low of the Weekend

Alex Morgan got a fine for her tweet last week criticizing the lack of a penalty call on a foul against her during the San Diego Wave vs. Kansas City Current match.ย

There needs to be a way for criticism to happen without repercussions; otherwise, speaking up is discouraged, and problems won’t be addressed.ย

News of the Weekendย

The two USWNT vs. South Africa friendlies sadly marked the farewell of two legendary players, Julie Ertz and Megan Rapinoe.ย

In the second match, Rapinoe served in a corner kick that Emily Sonnet scored off ofโ€“not a bad way to end her career!ย

Additionally, Rapinoe is never at a loss for words, and her post-match speech had us all a little misty-eyed, including Lindsey Horan!ย

Game of the Weekend

The FSU vs. UNC game was one to watch! It had back-and-forth goal-scoring the entire match. FSU was down 2-3, and with less than ten seconds left in the game, fired in a corner kick that ricocheted and then volleyed it into the back of the net, tying it up.

This is another clutch last-second goal. Texas Tech took this long-range freekick, which somehow found the head of one of their players and went into the back of the net. Texas Tech triumphed over the Texas Longhorns!
