Seattle truly cannot catch a break. They are having an uncharacteristically poor season, with a record of 2-1-7. Bethany Balcer was shown a red card in their latest loss against Orlando Pride, and Tziarra King was shown one a couple of weeks ago. If the Reign woes continue, they’ll continue to dig a hole for themselves that will be difficult to climb out of in the second half of the season. What’s going on in Seattle?

News of the Weekend

The 2027 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Brazil! The vote was held on May 17, and where FIFA announced Brazil as the host, the first South American country to host the tournament. It’s also the first country to host eight different FIFA competitions.

Brazil was going up against a joint bid from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, which promised a compact tournament in terms of location and travel. However, Brazil won out 119-78 in votes, noted for the quality of their stadiums.
