High of the Week

Temwa Chawinga continues to make NWSL history. This week she found the back of the net against the San Diego Wave meaning that she’s scored against every team in one season. It was her 20th goal of the season, the most in a single season in NWSL history.

Low of the Week

This week there was more retirement news as Desiree Scott and Merritt Mathias announced that they would hang up their boots at the end of the season. Both players have been in the league since the start. They each have one final regular season game to go. 

News of the Week

Jonas Eidevall stepped down as Arsenal’s head coach this week. Arsenal is currently in 5th place with a 2-2-1 record. He had been the head coach since 2021. Renée Slegers is presently serving as the Interim head coach.

Fail of the Week

NWSL Boston announced their new name with a campaign that fell short. They announced that they would be named Bos Nation Football Club. Their campaign was met with a lot of backlash as it was offensive to the LGBTQ+ community.

Save of the Week

Jane Campbell made three saves in the Dash’s 2-1 loss to Seattle Reign. With those saves, Campbell broke the single-season saves record with 113 so far this season.

Win of the Week

Gotham made a statement this weekend when they defeated the Orlando Pride 3-1. They handed the Pride just their second loss of the season. It was a great performance from Gotham who are currently on a seven-match unbeaten streak.

What To Look Forward To

The USWNT is back in action with three matches this week against Iceland and Argentina. It’s exciting to see the team back together for the first time since the Olympics. There are a few new faces in camp with Yazmeen Ryan, Emma Sears, Alyssa Malonson, and Eva Gaetino all receiving their first call-ups.

Gotham celebrated the career of Kelley O’Hara at their match against the Orlando Pride. All the stars were reunited as O’Hara’s former teammates showed up to celebrate the defender’s terrific career.
