Intro- 0:00-2:55
NWSL Three-Week Recap
THe NWSL has been amazing through the first three weeks of the season and I take a look at the standings and some major surprises so far.
CPKC Stadium is incredible- 3:00-4:08
The Kansas City Current are 3-0 to start the season, they have a women’s sports stadium dedicated just for them and Vlatko Andonovski is back. This is a team to be feared this season.
Portland Thorns slow start- 4:35-5:25
The Thorns are shockingly bottom of the table through 3 matches and while they’ve proven to be resilient, the poor defensive starts are going to cost this team if they don’t get it fixed soon.
Washington Spirit and Trinity Rodman looking good; Dana Foederer tackle is setting a bad precedent for the league- 6:41-10:51
Trinity Rodman has taken her game to another level and has stepped up with the departure of Ashley Hatch. Rodman alongside Croix Bethune and Hal Hershfelt is looking like a formidable combination.
During the game of the week against the Utah Royals, Dana Foederer committed an awful tackle where she should’ve been sent off. VAR and the referee spent a ton of time looking at it and still gave out a yellow card, which is setting a horrible precedent for the league. More players will put in tackles like this if it isn’t punished.
Sophia Smith Contract Not Needing to Go to Europe- 11:00-14:15
Sophia Smith signed a multi-year extension making her one of the highest paid players in the league. Smith mentioned she doesn’t feel the need to go to Europe to better her game.
Eva Gaetino Interview-14:20-25:45
This interview is from the United Soccer Coaches Convention where Eva Gaetino of PSG accepted her First Team All-American award with Notre Dame. Eva walks us through her decision to forgo the NWSL to play abroad along with what she wants for her career.
SheBelieves Cup Preview- 25:46-30:35
The SheBelieves Cup is in a different format this year because of the recent Gold Cup. The USWNT will take on Japan in the first seminal and Canada takes on Brazil in the other. The return of Mallory Swanson and Catarina Macario is huge for the United States.
Korbin Albert Drama on Social Media with Megan Rapinoe- 30:35-34:29
Korbin Albert sparked huge controversy sharing and liking social media posts about the LGBTQ+ community, which was wrong. Just try not to think about the number of other players who likely feel this way.
Emma Hayes vs. Jonas Eidevall- 34:30-41:00
Emma Hayes shoved Jonas Eidevall when shaking hands after the Continental Cup Final. Hayes accused Eidevall of “male aggression” towards Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert when the video otherwise shows Cuthbert approaching Eidevall in an aggressive manner. It’s an emotionally charged moment that hopefully doesn’t get blown out of proportion.
Outro- 41:00-End
