LeagueSide and DIRECTV Launch Sports Scholarship!

DIRECTV and youth sports partnership platform LeagueSide have teamed up with USWNT World Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist, and Angel City FC player Sydney Leroux to help grow sponsorship for young athletes around the country. 

They’ve launched a sweepstakes for parents, guardians, and coaches to win a $500 sports scholarship for their players. Enter to win now through November 30! The 20 winners will be announced on December 10.

As all of us know, the cost of youth sports is constantly rising, meaning many young athletes face barriers to playing their sports. However, we also know youth sports help build confidence, create relationships, and bring communities together. Making playing more important than ever. 

To help promote the sports scholarship program, as well as girls and women’s sports, Sydney Leroux goes undercover (beard and all!) to see how the next generation of girls’ soccer players reacts to some of the sexist comments she’s gotten throughout her career. When the girls quickly get tired of the insults and stand up for themselves, Leroux reveals her identity. Check out the video!

The winners of the scholarship award will receive funds to cover registration fees and equipment costs–essentials in giving players opportunities to play and grow in soccer.
