HER Soccer Summit Kicks off August 10th-12th

Finally, a virtual soccer experience just for HER! Girls Soccer Network and Shawna Gordon are excited to bring you HER Soccer Summit!

Without question, one of the “highlights” of this pandemic is seeing how incredibly powerful our soccer community is. I am inspired every day by the creativity, support and energy I see from the safe, yet vibrant window of social media.

For so many girls across the country, not having soccer in the same way they’ve known all their lives has been a massive shift. No more practicing a few times a week; games and tournaments on weekends; and all the little social nuances that happen when you’re physically together with your team. While that can never be replaced, players have not only survived this crazy time, but some have actually managed to thrive.

We at GSN thought, “how can we be a part of this player education and entertainment movement more than we already are?” Well, it’s always been a dream of ours to do live events for our community, centered around a holistic, whole player approach rather than a tournament style competition. So, why not do it, but just do it virtually?

It all sounded great in our heads, but we needed that person to tie it all together and be the host. This person would not only have to have the same mission as GSN, but also be able to lead training sessions and communicate to the guests in an honest and relatable way. Enter the one and only Shawna Gordon!

Shawna’s passion for soccer is expressed through everything she does. Her work, her play and yes, even her fashion. In and around Los Angeles, Shawna has trained hundreds of players, but has a particular connection with girls, and they her.

Her skill is not just as a soccer coach and trainer, but also as a mentor and guide. Being there for the girls to help them speed up their dribbling is important to Shawna. Helping them navigate the world outside the lines is equally important. Her nonprofit, Football For Her, whose mission is to educate, motivate and develop confidence in girls on and off the pitch โ€” helping them reach their goals regardless of their economic standing โ€” was something we’d been excited about since she launched it. That said, it all came together when Shawna agreed to be our partner and help get this out of our heads and into the world. Givingย  a percentage of what we make to Football for Her was the icing on the cake!

HER Soccer Summit is a three day virtual event series that will bring in top talent from the women’s soccer world that want to share their experiences and knowledge to the younger generation of players. Through training, Q & A’s and interactive segments, we think HER Soccer Summit will be an experience that girls of any age can enjoy. We hope you’ll tune in!
