The 8 Best Olympic Women’s Soccer Goals

The 2024 Paris Olympics are over, with the USWNT lifting Gold for the first time since 2012. From free kicks to extra-time bangers, we take a look at some of the best goals scored throughout the tournament.

Trinity Rodman vs. Japan

During extra time of the quarterfinal game against Japan, Rodman received a terrific ball from Crystal Dunn. Rodman was able to control the ball and get around her defender before sending her shot into the side of the net, sending the USWNT to the next round.

Alexia Putellas vs. Nigeria

Spain earned a free kick on the right side a little bit outside the box in the 85th minute. Putellas took the kick and sent it directly into the back of the net. It was a wonderfully taken free kick that propelled Spain to the 1-0 victory.

A beautifully taken free kick from well outside the box was terrifically placed into the top right corner. The goalkeeper did get a hand on it, but the ball was struck with enough power to get by.

Korbin Albert vs. Australia

Albert got the ball at the top of the box off a clearance from Australia. She took one touch and then sent a rocket into the goal. It ended up being the game-winning goal in the USWNT’s 2-1 win over Australia. She became the first American to score her first goal for the team at the Olympic Games.

Mackenzie Barry vs. Canada

New Zealand earned a corner and sent a cross into the box. Barry was there to settle the ball, then turned to take her shot and send it into the back of the net.

Leicy Santos vs. Spain

The attack started with Linda Caicedo running down the side. She took a shot that forced a save from the keeper, but the ball was sent right to Santos, who took a great first touch and was able to turn and send a curling shot into the back of the net.

Barbra Banda vs. Australia

Banda got the ball and turned, heading toward the box, before realizing that she had an open look and taking a long-range shot that beat the keeper. It was a very quick strike for Zambia, as it came in the first minute of the match.
