It’s hard to imagine that anyone this good at footy could have other talents, too, but these impressive women soccer players are full of surprises. Because they’re secret talents, we could only find a few (for now), but here are some of our favorite Socceristas with hidden skills.
Ava Cook
Ava Cook, a forward for the Chicago Red Stars, likes to unwind after a long day of scoring goals with graphic design. Cook is an absolute whiz with Photoshop and loves to show her creative side. She recently joined the design team at Parkside Cards, the company making trading cards for the NWSL. This proves that Socceristas can be creative on and off the pitch.
Kelley O’Hara
O’Hara is a go for broke player on the pitch, so it makes sense that she would have an epic secret talent like surfing. She got into the sport during her time at Stanford when this Georgia girl officially became a beach bum. She actually got started with her Cardinals teammate and fellow secretly talented soccer player, Ali Riley.
Ali Riley
This may not be the biggest secret, given that she has her very own cookbook, but for those of you who don’t know, Ali Riley is a very talented home chef. The New Zealand national and Angel City player loves to share her food with friends and family. Riley is specifically skilled in plant-based cooking, which is the focus of her book Girls Gone Veg.
Ali Krieger
The recently retired Krieger is already stepping back onto the international pitch, where her fluency in German might just come in handy. Krieger (whose last name coincidentally is the German word for “warrior”) picked up a second language during her time at FFC Frankfurt. Maybe after The Soccer Tournament, she’ll pick up another when she settles into her retirement.
María Sánchez
The recent San Diego Wave signing takes her talents off the pitch and into music. María Sánchez spends time playing the guitar when she’s not practicing. Although she doesn’t share that she plays very often on social media, she has some serious talent.
