These Soccer Players Scored Big With NIL (name, image, likeness) Deals

Last year the NCAA finally allowed athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL). It was a big step that changed the landscape of college athletics. Since the new rule went into effect, athletes in all sports have been earning big NIL deals. We look at some womenโ€™s soccer players who have scored big with these deals.

Reilyn Turner

In December, Nike announced their signing of an NIL deal with Reilyn Turner. The terms of the agreement werenโ€™t released, but it is helping Turner to give back to her home city. According to Nike, they will team up with Turner to work with Los Angeles-based community partners.ย

Turner is a sophomore star forward for UCLA. Through two seasons, sheโ€™s registered 21 goals and six assists in 37 appearances for the Bruins. She was also the 2020 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.ย 

 

Charlotte Teeter

Teeter is a graduate student in her fifth season with Texas Tech. She partnered with Degree to share her story. Sheโ€™s one of 19 college athletes who will be included in Degreeโ€™s Breaking Limits campaign. Itโ€™s a program meant to inspire others to break limits, and Degreeย is pledging over $5 million over the next five years.ย

She’s also got a local NIL deal with Cardinals, a sporting goods store in Lubbock, Texas.ย

Sarah Fuller

Fuller rose to fame when she was the goalkeeper at Vanderbilt. While there, she spent a short time on the Vanderbilt football team as a kicker and became the first woman to play in a Power 5 football game. The accomplishment quickly blew up her social media accounts. When NILโ€™s passed, she got her first partnership with Represent, a clothing brand, creating an exclusive limited edition shirt design.ย

She spent the last college season as a graduate student at the University of North Texas. Fuller also signed a NIL deal withย NOCAP Sports, a company looking to help athletes navigate the NIL landscape.ย

Brooke Roberts

Roberts is a freshman at Arkansas who has become a star on social media, thanks to Tik Tok. She has a large following on the app with 2.1M followers and 197,000 Instagram followers.

In addition to her significant social media presence, she signed a NIL deal with PlantFuel. PlantFuel is a plant-based performance and protein supplement company. Roberts joins an impressive list of collegiate athletes that are part of PlantFuelโ€™s College Athlete Partnerships Program.ย 

 

Jaelin Howell

Jaelin Howell had one of the most decorated collegiate careers in womenโ€™s soccer during her time at Florida State, winning the MAC Hermann Trophy twice in back-to-back seasons. She was also the second pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft.

But, before turning professional, she was one of the first athletes to sign a NIL deal when the NCAAs new rule went into effect. She signed an agreement along with four other female athletes in Florida with Milner Technologies, an IT Services company. Each athlete will get $5,000 for the deal. She has also done another deal via her Instagram for Harmless Harvest.
