5. Sophie Harding – Western Sydney Wanderers

Sophie Harding has been a star for Western Sydney this season. This goal was her seventh of the season, and it was a stunner.

What’s amazing about this goal is how Harding is able to generate tremendous power on a one-time shot. Most players would take a touch to try and settle the ball and then go for goal. Harding wasted no time, and by doing so, the keeper was caught off guard and beaten easily. Western Sydney sits right outside the playoff spots in the A-League table. Sophie Harding might help them break into the top four.

4. Maรซlle Garbino – Juventus

Jueventus’ Maรซlle Garbino stepped up for her team when they needed it the most in the Italian Supercoppa Final. The match was tied 1-1 with Roma and a poorly-cleared cross rolled right to Garbino’s feet. Roma’s defenders didn’t show a strong enough sense of urgency to close down the shot. Garbino had time to set herself and line up the shot. However, the execution and technique had to be perfect in order to beat the keeper. Well, talk about a perfect connection with the ball. Garbino curled it into the top corner and ended up scoring the goal that would win the Supercoppa for Juventus.

3. Sarah Clark – Canberra United

This goal was an absolute screamer from Sarah Clark, one for the highlight reels.

Clark received the ball from at least 25 yards out with multiple defenders in the vicinity. Most players would not even think about taking a shot from that position because of the risk involved. If she missed or the ball got blocked or intercepted, Newcastle could’ve gone the other way and scored. Clark had to hit the target, but she did more than that.

This was the kind of goal you’d see from a forward or midfielder, but that’s a center-back hitting the ball like that. Sarah Clark’s technique is sublime.

2. Caroline Graham Hansen – FC Barcelona

Caroline Graham Hansen looks like she’s playing the game on easy mode, and no one in Liga F is on her level other than her own teammates. It might seem like a tiny detail, but Hansen made an amazing adjustment to the ball at the last second. CGH was ready to take the ball down and secure, but it bounced in front of her instead. Her footwork is immaculate, which allows her to adjust on the fly and calmly chip the keeper into an open net.

Players that are not on her level would lose the ball, miss, or the keeper would save it but CGH is as ruthless as it gets in front of goal.

1. Saki Kumagai – AS Roma

Roma was locked in a battle with Juventus in the Supercoppa Final, and at the time of this goal, Roma was trailing Juventus 1-0. Saki Kumagai was a huge signing for Roma as she’s been one of the premier players in the world for a long time.

The quality, composure, and finishing from Kumagai are world-class. A quick touch helped her bring the ball inside and shake the defender as soon as she received the ball. The Japanese superstar has conviction as well because there is not one iota of hesitation from her. Before anyone has a chance to even try to react, the ball is in the air and in the net in a matter of seconds.

I’m praying we get to see Saki Kumagai at one more World Cup for Japan to see her do this on the big stage one more time.
