With the NWSL around the corner and leagues in Europe heating up with the end of the season approaching, there’s a lot of great women’s soccer action going on right now. This week’s list features more goals from England than any other league, while a surprise entry makes a list after just getting drafted into the NWSL this year. So let’s get into this week’s top 5 women’s soccer goals in March in the FA WSL, D1 Arkema, and NWSL Preseason.
5. Alyssa Thompson – Angel City

Angel City organized a friendly against Club América in the Liga MX with the opportunity to showcase their new No. 1 draft pick, Alyssa Thompson. Let’s just say the teenager made a big splash in her debut, and it only added to the hype train surrounding her at the moment.
Watch on this play how she literally takes on the entire defense; there are four Club América defenders and just Thompson. Granted, there were no fancy stepovers, but she was slightly fortunate that the ball bounced back into her path as well. Yet, her speed will be a problem for any NWSL defense.
Once Thompson was past the defenders, it was over, the keeper came out, and Thompson effortlessly dribbled around her and scored. Alyssa Thompson could be the next big thing in the NWSL.
4. Lindsey Horan – Lyon
It's @LindseyHoran with that sweet-sweet touch to make it 2-0 for l'OL!#WatchWithAta #D1Arkema pic.twitter.com/YgyVLHlGin

Lindsey Horan’s skill knows no bounds, and her versatility to be great at scoring goals and being strong defensively is among the best in the world.
On this goal, all Horan needed was one touch to score, and it was sublime. Horan ran across the box and deftly swept the ball into the far corner with her left foot. The degree of difficulty to one touch the ball instead of letting it bounce is much higher, but the Great Horan made it look like a walk in the park.
This goal wasn’t just great to watch but important for Lyon’s season. They are still at the top of the standings, thanks to Horan’s goal.
3. Elisabeth Terland – Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton put up quite the fight against Manchester City in a game where many said they wouldn’t have stood much of a chance. For the second week running, Lee Geum-min provided a spark for Brighton, but this time it was a gorgeous assist.
Her through ball bypassed the entire Manchester City defense and left Elisabeth Terland alone with the keeper. Terland was around 18 yards out, and the keeper did well to cut the angle for Terland to shoot. Terland only had one option: to try and bend the ball corner, and she executed it to perfection.
That’s got to be a huge confidence boost for Brighton when you score a goal like this against a team like Manchester City.
2. Rachel Daly – Aston Villa
Oh @RachelDaly3, what a STRIKE 🚀#BarclaysWSL @AVWFCOfficial pic.twitter.com/2c97BNsesq

Rachel Daly has become the star player at Aston Villa, and one thing no one can question about her is she always gives 110%. Not only that but no matter where she has played, she has always been a goal scorer.
Daly is second in the league in goals scored with 11 behind Bunny Shaw at the top with 15. This emphatic strike helped add to her tally. Any defender who makes the mistake of being careless with the ball will be punished. Daly is ruthless; the defender couldn’t even attempt to make up for her mistake.
The former St. John’s product didn’t even take a touch and just smashed the ball into the far corner. We’re sad to see her gone from the NWSL, but she’s clearly crushing it in the WSL.
1. Sam Kerr – Chelsea
Still thinking about this goal…@laurenjamess22 🔗 @samkerr1 link-up of the HIGHEST quality! 🔥#BarclaysWSL @ChelseaFCW pic.twitter.com/fSL0TAa0Fq

This goal comprises two parts: the perfect pass from Lauren James and the cheeky, composed finish from Sam Kerr. First, my jaw is still on the ground after James’ pass was perfectly placed onto the chest of a sprinting Sam Kerr. Nine times out of ten, that pass is either too long or too short. But this time, it was ideal.
Then Kerr has the body control, balance, strength, and concentration to take the ball off her chest with a defender on her. Then, even with the defender flying in to try and block the shot, Kerr calmly chipped the keeper on what seemed like a near-impossible angle.
Two of the hottest players in the world right now combined for an amazing goal. Those are the types of moments that Chelsea fans have to dream about.
