What Makes Women’s Soccer So Enjoyable

There is a movement occurring right now that has put women’s rights, strengths, and abilities at the forefront of the sports world. Women’s soccer is growing, and it is growing with a vengeance. The reason for its success? It boils down to the players and what they’re able to bring and express every single day, on and off the pitch. Women’s soccer gives young girls and women the power to express themselves, the right to believe in themselves, and the courage to chase after their dreams. Now tell me, what could be more enjoyable than that? It’s no surprise women’s soccer is popular and viewership is on the rise. 

There was a time when people only cared about women’s soccer during the World Cup. Now, the WoSo world is active daily, not just every four years. Women’s soccer speaks to all kinds of people because it is the underdog wrestling against a long-standing, patriarchal system. And the more this system seeks to put women’s soccer in its designated place, the more players dig their heels into the ground with retaliating force. Women are not only showing strength on the field and in the gym; they take that same philosophy outside of it, where they’re fighting tooth and nail for what they deserve.

Women’s soccer players’ strength and courage both on and off the field is inarguable. But, they also have an innate ability to connect with fans. Specifically, the USWNT is not only relatable but incredibly skilled and passionate about what they do. They are professionals who show up to work every day to honor themselves and their team. It’s easy to root for a team that wins like the USWNT, but you also can’t help but root for women’s soccer players at an individual level. 

We all know women soccer players are determined, tough, and skilled. They are creators, they are imaginative, and they are artists. How can one not enjoy a strong, dedicated woman who is also the master of her art? Soccer allows women a platform to express both their free-flowing, creative selves while crushing stereotypes. When watching a women’s match, one witnesses masterful plays and pure elegance that embodies the women’s game. 

Women’s soccer players are a joy to watch because of the passion and skill they bring to the field. The women’s game also exhibits women’s capacity to fight for what they deserve through sheer force of will and determination. Soccer allows young girls and women to dream of things bigger than themselves and believe in their capabilities. The game is enjoyable. But the fact that we have girls and women playing it makes it even more so.
