The FA WSL finished up this week, but the NWSL regular season is in full swing. Portland announced an exciting new partnership, Covid forced a postponement, and Sam Kerr continues to rack up the goals. Here’s this week’s women’s soccer news.

US Fertility to serve as club’s official fertility partner:

The Portland Thorns announced a partnership with US Fertility as their official fertility partner. They will provide free fertility care and physicians to Thorns players. The partnership is another step toward players not having to choose between starting a family and playing the sport.

The first Cascadia Rivalry of the 2022 regular season took place on Friday, with the Thorns hosting OL Reign at Providence Park. The game was scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM ET on CBS Sports Network. Instead, though, bull-riding went over its allotted time, and fans were forced to watch the first 20 minutes of the game on the CBS Sports website.

The regular-season game between NJ/NY Gotham FC and the North Carolina Courage was postponed due to Covid protocol in the Courage organization. Gotham also had a few players under Covid protocol. The league hasn’t announced a makeup date for the game yet.

Sam Kerr was named the FA WSL Golden Boot winner with 20 goals in as many games this season, helping to lead Chelsea to the WSL title. Kerr has taken home the title in back-to-back years, winning the honor last season as well.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce came up with a massive 1v1 save against Sophia Smith. Tullis-Joyce has been terrific so far this season throughout the Challenge Cup and the beginning of the regular season. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
