Another whirlwind week in women’s soccer as the NWSL hit the trade deadline before the expansion draft, and the College Cup final is set for the night of December 6. We’ll see Florida State and BYU kickoff at 5:00 PM PT in Santa Clara. So, without further ado, here’s this week’s women’s soccer news.

The NCAA College Champion will be named tonight in Santa Clara. BYU has somewhat of an uphill battle taking on the number one seed Florida State. Yet, they have surprised all season. This NCAA tournament was super exciting, with many big schools being upset early.
News of the Weekend
With the NWSL expansion and college drafts coming up quickly, the teams have been shuffling around a lot to get deals in before the trade deadline.
This week there was a ton of news about trades not limited to Sam Mewis joining the KC Current, Chicago trading away Julie Ertz, Sarah Gorden, Katie Johnson, Makenzy Doniak, and Nikki Stanton, and Kailen Sheridan, Jodie Taylor, and Tegan McGrady headed to San Diego Wave FC.
Additionally, the Courage just announced that Lynn Williams would be on loan in the Australian A-League for Melbourne Victory FC.
Win of the Weekend
Chelsea absolutely thrashed Arsenal Arsenal taking them down three-nil in the FA Cup championship. Sam Kerr scored twice, and Fran Kirby scored once, showing the team’s dominance.

Florida State’s goalkeeper Cristina Roque was on fire during the game against Rutger’s, coming up with at least a few spectacular saves that left the Scarlet Knights scoreless.

No doubt, Sam Kerr is one of the best players in the world right now, and her spectacular goal in Chelsea’s match against Arsenal shows it. She chips the ball perfectly over the keeper and into the net, sealing the deal for Chelsea.
Player of the Weekend
Barcelona Femini captain Alexia Putellas won the Ballon D’Or after having a record-breaking season. She had 37 goals and 27 assists, helped her team to a Champions League title and was named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.
