The 2024 NWSL season is upon us, with the regular season starting on March 16. It’s an exciting time for the league, and with the season right around the corner, we look at where each team plays their home matches.

BMO Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium that opened in 2018. Angel City and MLS club Los Angeles FC call the stadium home. It’s a large stadium with a capacity of 22,000, and Angel City has been playing in the stadium since it joined the NWSL in 2022. Angel City is known for drawing quite the crowd at BMO, and it’s one of the best venues in the league.

The Red Stars play their home matches at SeatGeek Stadium, which has a capacity of 28,000. The stadium opened in 2006 and has been the home of professional men’s and women’s soccer and rugby. It is located outside of Chicago in Bridgeview, Illinois.

In 2019, Gotham FC moved to Red Bull Arena, another very good soccer-specific venue. The stadium is right outside of New York City in Harrison, New Jersey. In addition to being the home of Gotham, Red Bull also houses the MLS squad New York Red Bulls. It has a capacity of 25,000. Last season, Gotham had a club-record attendance of over 15,000 when the club faced off against the San Diego Wave.

The Dash have played their home matches at Shell Energy Stadium since 2014. The stadium was originally opened in 2012 but underwent renovations in 2023. Part of that renovation included changing the seats to help keep fans as cool as possible in the hot Texas heat. Shell Energy Stadium holds 22,039 fans and is a multipurpose stadium. In addition to being home to the Dash, it is also the stadium of the Houston Dynamo in the MLS and the Texas Southern Tigers college football team.

The Current will play their home matches at the very first women’s soccer-specific stadium. CPKC Stadium began construction in 2022 and will officially open when the Current host the Portland Thorns on March 16. CPKC has a smaller capacity compared to other venues, with 11,500, but it’s bound to be one of, if not the best, stadiums in the league. The press box of the new stadium was also dedicated to the late Grant Wahl.

Bay FC – PayPal Park

Bay FC will play its inaugural season at PayPal Park, which is also home to the San Jose Earthquakes (MLS), San Jose Earthquakes II (MLS Next Pro), and the California Redwoods (Premier Lacrosse League). The stadium opened in 2015 and holds 18,000. It’s a beautiful stadium that will be a great place for Bay FC to call home as they try to make a splash during their first season.

Snapdragon is home to a variety of teams, including college football with the San Diego State Aztecs, San Diego Legion (Major League Rugby), and San Diego FC, which will join the MLS in 2025. The stadium has a capacity of 32,000, making it the largest stadium in the NWSL.

Providence Park is the oldest stadium in the league. It was originally opened in 1926 and renovated five times, the most recent time in 2019. While it has been home to several teams in the past, it currently only hosts the Portland Thorns and the Portland Timbers (MLS). The Thorns have been playing at Providence Park since the beginning of 2013. The stadium has a capacity of 25,218.

The stadium, which opened in 2018, is also the home venue for Louisville City FC, the city’s USL squad. Its capacity is 11,700, but it can be expanded to a little over 15,000.

North Carolina Courage – WakeMed Soccer Park

The Courage have called WakeMed home since the team was relocated from Western New York. With a capacity of 10,000, it’s the smallest venue in the league. The stadium opened in 2002 and was also the home of the WUSA’s Carolina Courage.

Washington Spirit – Audi Field

Audi Field is a great soccer venue. The Washington Spirit’s move solely to Audi Field in 2023 was a massive deal for the Spirit and the NWSL. Audi Field is also home to DC United (MLS) and DC Defenders (UFL). The stadium opened in 2018 and has a capacity of 20,000.

Orlando Pride – Inter & Co Stadium

Orlando has played their home matches at the same stadium since joining the NWSL in 2017. The stadium opened in 2017 and has a capacity of 25,500. One of the best design features of the stadium is the 49 rainbow seats that honor the victims of the 2016 nightclub shooting in Orlando. It is also home to Orlando City SC (MLS).

Utah Royals – America First Field

The Royals are back in the NWSL for the first time since 2020 under new ownership. They’ll return to the same stadium they used in their first stint in Utah. Still, the stadium was formerly named Rio Tinto before undergoing naming rights changes to become America First Field. It’s also the home to MLS club Real Salt Lake. The stadium is located in Sandy, Utah, and has a capacity of 20,213.
