Top 5 Goals: CONCACAF Women’s Championship, UEFA Women’s Championship, NWSL Matchday 11

Summer soccer competitions are indeed the best. Whether it’s the Euros, World Cup, CONCACAF Championship, or even the Olympics, they never disappoint. This week’s list of Top 5 Goals won’t disappoint either. A diverse group of talent features their skills in a big way. Let’s get a closer look at the best women’s soccer goals from another fantastic week of soccer.

5. Alessia Russo – England

England has looked unstoppable during the Group Stage of the Euros. The home-field advantage serves them well.

Northern Ireland didn’t stand a chance as they got walloped 5-0 by England. Alessia Russo looked slicker than ever scoring this goal. This turn she makes is sublime and takes three defenders out of the equation. The composure on the finish was brilliant as well.

Good luck to the rest of the teams trying to stop England. They are the team to beat right now.

4. Mallory Pugh – USWNT

The USWNT is full speed ahead with a spot in the Olympics on their mind, and this combo play between Rose Lavelle and Mallory Pugh got them one step closer to that goal.

Lavelle’s backheel is incredible. It’s one of those moments of creative quality that make your jaw drop. It happened in a split second, and the Costa Rica defense couldn’t react quick enough to stop it.

Mallory Pugh was already behind the defense, and she had a tough angle to finish. A player of her quality in a rich run of form still wasn’t going to miss, and the USWNT were well on their way to getting to the CONCACAF Championship Final.

3. Allysha Chapman – Canada

This was a really cool moment for Canada because of how hard Allysha Chapman always plays for her country. The defender had made 91 appearances and only scored once for her country until this game against Jamaica.

Adrianna Leon played in a great ball that drifted towards the far post. Chapman came darting down the wing like she was shot out of a cannon. Even when the ball came to her in the air, she didn’t slow down. Somehow, without breaking stride, Chapman managed to head the ball in on the near post, leaving everyone stunned.

Based on the reaction from her teammates, they knew this wasn’t a common event, but no one deserved it more than Allysha Chapman in a game of this magnitude.

2. Danielle van de Donk – Netherlands

Danielle van de Donk is world-class; there’s no doubt about that. Give her any space outside of the box, and she will make you pay.

Portugal paid the ultimate price, and the ball was in the back of the net before anyone could blink. The midfield maestro took one quick touch to set herself up and then went for the top corner. The result was a firecracker of a goal that helped the Netherlands secure a spot in the quarterfinals against France.

1. Olivia Moultrie – Portland Thorns

The prodigy strikes again, this time in the biggest way possible. Olivia Moultrie had scored before in a pro game but never anything like this. Her soccer IQ and awareness for her age are incredible.

As soon as Yasmeen Ryan got the ball, watch Moultrie wiggle her way into the open space, and once she got the ball, she was decisive and had the ability to execute this strike. For her to score with her left foot from that angle with all that power and bend is something to behold.

What a player and future she’s going to have. The Thorns have something they certainly don’t want to let go of any time soon.
