United Soccer Coaches is an organization that has been supporting coaches and impacting the game of soccer since 1941. One of United Soccer Coaches’ long-running development and mentorship programs is the 30 Under 30 Program, which is in its tenth year. Very soon, they will select 15 male and 15 female coaches to participate in their 30 Under 30 Program.
What is the 30 Under 30 Program?
The program is a year-long opportunity for coaches to gain mentorship and become the strongest to lead the next generation of soccer players. The 30 coaches selected will receive mentorship from established coaches, attend convention and education courses that will elevate them to the next coaching level, and be a part of a vast network of program alumni.
The Alumni
The 30 Under 30 Program has produced notable alumni that have completely changed the coaching game.
Margueritte Aozasa
Margueritte Aozasa was a part of the program in 2018 and has since led an impressive coaching career. She is the current head coach for the UCLA Women’s Soccer team. She is the first head coach and first woman of color to win the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Championship. Aozasa also works as a U.S. U-23 National Team Assistant Coach.
Kate Ward
Additionally, Kate Ward joined the program in 2020. She was the U.S. Deaf Soccer Women’s National Team Captain, where she led the team to a Gold Medal at the 2022 Summer Deaflympic Games. She is currently the assistant coach at High Point University for their women’s soccer team.
Cynthia Cervantes
Lastly, Cynthia Cervantes participated in the 30 Under 30 Program in 2021. Since then, she has joined the United Soccer Coaches Latino Coaches Community Vice Chair. In this position, she won an Award of Excellence Recipient. She is currently the Mohave Community College Women’s Soccer Head Coach. Cervantes has won El Paso Coach of the Year in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
These amazing female coaches have already led astonishing careers. The 30 Under 30 Program provided them a place to flourish and reach a new potential. Taking advantage of this opportunity can change coaching and the game of soccer as a whole.
