Our Top Cleat Picks for 2022

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Of course, it’s the holiday season, but more importantly, it’s time to round up the top cleats of 2022!

If you think like me, you might say there is no way last year’s list can be topped, but this was a good year for incredible cleat releases. Apologies ahead of time since you will probably add at least one of these pairs to your wish list. Here are our top cleat picks for 2022.

Nike Air Zoom Mercurial

If you are looking for a beautiful pair of cleats, this is it. The chrome-plated bottom will have your opponent staring at your feet with heart eyes while you zip around them, thanks to the Zoom Air style. You can get these in the Vapor style for a more traditional cleat fit or the Superfly style if you prefer a more snug fit. Ballon d’Or finalist and overall powerhouse player, Sam Kerr, has worn these, and we all know how good she is at the game, so maybe these cleats are worth checking out.

Ida Centra FG

Looking for a classic look that is also environmentally conscious? Search no further! This 100% vegan option has it all–comfort, a classic style, and they are eco-friendly. Also, since this brand of cleats is made with the woman’s foot in mind, they really are the safest and most comfortable boot possible.

Nike Mercurial Vapor Next Nature

Nike stepped further into the eco-friendly cleat game by releasing the Nike Mercurial Vapor Next Nature. These boots are made with at least 50% recycled material overall. The midsole plate is just one of many parts made from fully recycled materials like recycled polyester and manufacturing scrap. If these are good for Lyon striker Ada Hegerberg, then they are worth wearing!

Adidas Predators Edge

I have a soft spot for Adidas Predators, and apparently, so do many big-name female soccer players, such as Wendie Renard, Toni Duggan, Abby Dahlkemper, and Christiane Endler, who all wear the Predators Edge cleat. Look for the ribbed upper and laceless collar for a fit that allows for better control of the ball at every touch.

Ida Rise FG

Nike has some competition in the sock-fit type cleat department, although I wouldn’t really consider it a competition when this cleat is the clear winner for girls. Ida Sports is known for designing soccer cleats specifically for women, and they’ve upped their game with these cleats. They are lightweight and wrap around your ankle for extra support. Did I mention that they look great?

Puma Future 1.4

Offered in a women’s fit, this is one of the more recently released cleats of the year. The description boasts that this cleat offers an adaptive fit for ultimate support, even when worn without laces. Manchester United player, Nikita Parris, was excited to wear these, and she recently scored her first goal with the club, so I’d venture to say it’s worth giving these cleats a shot.

New Balance Furon v7

In my opinion, New Balance often gets overlooked when it comes to women’s cleats. Rose Lavelle and Spanish National Team midfielder, Claudia Zornoza, are both bringing this brand more visibility. Zornoza and fellow Spanish player, Shei Garcia, wear this new style of boot. They feature laces on the side, providing a smooth top, and their simple yet sleek look easily makes this one of the best-looking pairs on the list.

Go ahead and add one (or all) of these cleats to your holiday gift list! These pairs will keep you content, that is, until we see what the new year has in store!
