Juggling for Jude: Raising Money to Fight Childhood Cancer One Juggle at a Time

Something our community prides itself on is a love for the game and a drive to give to the causes we care about. Juggling for Jude embodies both of those qualities. For the second time, Juggling for Jude is partnering with the Penny Project to put on an event to raise money for St. Judes Children’s Hospital in order to fight and bring awareness to childhood cancer.

More About Juggling for Jude

Juggling for Jude was created by soccer player Hollis Belger in 2014 when she was just nine years old. Now at the age of 18, she’s continuing what she started. She combined her love for soccer with wanting to give back and came up with the idea of Juggling for Jude.

The outreach isn’t only based on juggling, though. Belger also participates in public speaking and hosts events to bring awareness and raise money for St. Judes. She also hosts group soccer clinics and training and donates 100% of the profits.

Through the years, the organization has grown, and so far, through donors, soccer players, and volunteers, they have raised over $585,000! They aren’t stopping there, though, with the next goal being to hit the one-million-dollar mark.

Kierra Scalercio and Louise Arseneault created the Penny Project to collect something as small as pennies to give back to those in need. Juggling for Jude and the Penny Project partnered up to combine juggling and pledging pennies! The first time this event was held in 2021, it was a big success: 45 participants completed a collective 80,746 juggles and raised $6,639.38 for St. Judes.

Juggling for Jude x The Penny Project

This Year’s Penny Project Event

The event will take place on April 2 at 3:00 PM PT. You can attend in person or via zoom. If players want to participate in person, the event is at The Park San Jose in California. To register for the event, all you have to do is fill out the form here

Ahead of the event, players should find pledgers that will commit to donating one penny for every juggle that the player does in the allotted 30-minute time frame. There’s no limit to how many pledgers each player gets. And all the money collected will go towards St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Ask family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor you for a penny-a-juggle at any time on Sunday!

For participants, the pledges should be made using this website. It’s also important to mention Penny Project in the notes to keep track of the donations for the event. If you can’t join the event in person or via zoom, you can still donate through the link.

After 30 minutes of juggling, Hollis will lead a discussion on the organization and her efforts to help fight childhood cancer.
